Love is a Battlefield
IDF soldier received heart shaped cookie somewhere near the Lebanon border...
Yes..and Juan Williams said something incredibly dumb..but I got a phone call and I forgot..dang it.
Voting coming down at the UN..
It's sickening. Just sickening.
Juan.pppfffttt..he has NO CLUE about the IDF. They've been explaining the facts ot Olmert for weeks- they had a BRILLIANT plan..that they've worked on for over two years for just this MOMENT. Olmert nixed it..messed with it- rewrote it..
Olmert is not the fall guy- he is a Israel's Bill Clinton.
Pretty hollow sounding headline now isn't it. Doubful any real order was ever given.
Sorry... I meant God HELP us ALL!!!
There IS no Lebanese Army...especially after today..it will be Hezbollah's Army..that supposedly good young Israelis died to give them.
I hold out hope that the rest of the Israeli government takes this opportunity to kick Olmert's butt out of there and to reject this so-called resolution.
Since Hizbollah has consistently claimed to be defending itself, not attacking......
And why shouldn't he? Hizbullah appears to be on the verge of what will be viewed as an major victory over the state of Israel. Israel never stopped the rocket attacks, did not achieve the return of their Israeli soldiers and was never able to hold any significant territory.
Hizbullah will not disarm, will be viewed as the Islamic Lion in that region of the world, and will live to fight another day. Nasrallah will not be wrong when he declares victory.
the un resolution [Michael Rubin]
The UN Resolution is a defeat for the war on terror. Israel lost, Iran won.
* An international force is just decoration, all the more so without Chapter VII. You can out whatever language you want in about robustness, but the international community looks for reasons to not take action, not for reasons to be efficient.
* The UN already demarcated the Israeli/Lebanon border. They found that Shabaa Farms was not part of Lebanon. That it is even referred to is a victory for Hizbullah.
* Embargoes dont work. Is the international force prepared to take over Lebanese customs at all points of entry?
* The resolution suggests a prisoner exchange, legitimizing the Hizbullahs hostage-taking.
* Hizbullah became the first Arab army to hit Haifa since 1948.
Diplomats and politicians will try to spin, but its hard to change the facts.

all 3 talking heads on CNN ...this isn't going to work..
1. 99.9% of Israel's problems this summer, originated in Iran.
2. At least 50% of America's problems in Iraq originated in Iran, another 47.5 percent originated in Iran's poodle, Syria.
3. Without Iran, Syria and Hezbollah couldn't fight their way out of a wet paper bag.
4. With Iran, Syria and Hezbollah would still need ten minutes to fight their way out of a wet paper bag.
5. Saudi Arabian royalty hates Iran.
6. Bush named Iran to the axis of evil, along with two other nations, one of which has been subjected to regime change.
7. Bush said he would prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons, and I believe he will.
8. Iran will probably fight to keep from losing their nuclear weapons program.
9. When Iran fights, Ayatollah Khamenei ends up pulled from a spider hole, scruffy and looking to make a deal.
10. You can lead an Olmert to a firefight, but you can't make him pull the trigger.
11. Without Iran, Syria and Hezbollah couldn't fight their way out of a wet paper bag.
12. Khamenei and Diner Jacket are at the bar right now, eating Goldfish and laughing their butts off.
13. He laughs best who laughs last.
I never believed it when I read that.
I knew Olmert was just itching to find a way to sign off on a cease fire resolution - that has been obvious all along.
NO it didn't mandate the release of the soldiers that are probably dead..
There was NO mention of disarming Hezbollah..
There was no mention of any financial help for Israel...but PLENTY OF OUR MONEY for the Hezzies...
Because if we thought Lebanon was under Hezzie control before...it is WORSE now...Nasrallah will probably get a ticket tape parade!
ugly stuff. ugly.
Amazing:

This is also part of a much larger play. If the UN imposes meaningful sanctions on Iran at the end of the moth, in the long run, that is much more important than whatever happened today. This is but a sideshow in the larger picture of confronting Iran.
As for today, Israel has reaped what it sowed in electing Kadima and Olmert.
All countries go through periods of bad leadership(see Jimmy Carter) and even good leadership isn't perfect(see Reagan in Beirut). The biggest thing to come out of this will be the end of Olmert and Kadima as a party. That will be a huge plus in the long run.
Israel will learn from its mistakes and do the best they can. Much as the US has had to deal with mistakes in Iraq such as not taking down Sadr and his Mahdi militia, not seriously confronting Iran and Syria for their support of the insurgency, the failed plan in Baghdad, etc...
These are all smaller parts of a larger war, and one thing here or there does not necessarily spell doom.
That said, Israel had a golden opportunity the past month and completely wasted it. The govt failed its citizens and will be removed, imo.
Exactly.
And without alienating my FRiends who adore the Secretary of State, she is the one who is about to sign this UN proposal- and I have to wonder what she is thinking as she does so..
