This is also part of a much larger play. If the UN imposes meaningful sanctions on Iran at the end of the moth, in the long run, that is much more important than whatever happened today. This is but a sideshow in the larger picture of confronting Iran.
As for today, Israel has reaped what it sowed in electing Kadima and Olmert.
All countries go through periods of bad leadership(see Jimmy Carter) and even good leadership isn't perfect(see Reagan in Beirut). The biggest thing to come out of this will be the end of Olmert and Kadima as a party. That will be a huge plus in the long run.
Israel will learn from its mistakes and do the best they can. Much as the US has had to deal with mistakes in Iraq such as not taking down Sadr and his Mahdi militia, not seriously confronting Iran and Syria for their support of the insurgency, the failed plan in Baghdad, etc...
These are all smaller parts of a larger war, and one thing here or there does not necessarily spell doom.
That said, Israel had a golden opportunity the past month and completely wasted it. The govt failed its citizens and will be removed, imo.
Boy..you have more faith than I do...if you think there even will be a resolution against Iran after this...why would they even pay attention??
The UN is there to PROTECT the terrorist's rights.
