I am afraid this is what lurks in the space where a heart should be in the modern feminist mother.. God help or children.. The truth really hurts, some of us.. :(

I have never been bored for one second with my kids. At every age they are a delight. I do pity her children too; if she can't bear the simple little things, she must not be much comfort when they are truly sick or scared. What a sad childhood they must have.

First, I hope she is ready for the day when her husband tells her he has a young girlfriend because his wife bores him to death.

Also, I hope she is ready for the subdued hatred of the children who have to carry this public admission around and continually prove to their friends that they aren't really boring. They will probably decide to show her just how boring they aren't when they get just a bit older. I predict these kids will try to be hell-raisers and will succeed.

I know of a kid whose mother, the wife of a prominent politician, called him "the mistake", the "unplanned" kid, in an interview. I think he was in high school at the time. He loved her dearly for that, I'm sure.

So, if you have messed up with your kids in some way, shut the EFF up! They don't need to hear you essentially berating them publicly. They WILL get even.

What a selfish person she is. My summers are too short with my kids. In a mere 2 weeks my kids go back to school. I have such fun with them, I can't imagine dreading spending time with them. :(

Boy am I glad she's not my mom. I'd hate to read about myself in the paper that way. Plus who cares- shut the he** up and DEAL. What a whiner.

Am I a lazy, superficial person because I don't enjoy packing up their sports kit, or making their lunch, or sitting through coffee mornings with other mothers discussing how Mr Science (I can't remember most of the teachers' names) said such and such to Little Johnny and should we all complain to the headmaster.

No, you are not superficial because you don't enjoy it. You are superficial because you think everything is supposed to be for your enjoyment.

This has been a great summer. There have been more kids running around the neighborhood than ever. I enjoy watching them play endlessly with boundless energy. There are 9 boys who make up the crowd.

Moms who strictly made them stay in their own yards have relented and they roam about as they should.

I am tolerated and respected as the elder on the block, and they joyously pass me on my bike.... doing wheelies or other tricks beyond my ability.

I worry they think my interest might be perverted because of all the bad news that circulates.

I suspect she has a problem with the father in order for her to despise the children so.

How horrible & hurtful she must be to her childrens' tender little hearts. She should NEVER have born them. I have no sympathy for this.

Kids are supposed to be fulfilling, life-changing, life-enhancing fun: why was my attitude towards them so different?

Your kids must have a factory defect. Send them back and demand replacements that work right!

The scariest thing is this women has more than one child. One wasn't fulfilling, life-changing, life-enhancing fun enough, so I guess she thought if she had more than one they could work in shifts to entertain her.

"Frankly, as long as you've fed them, sheltered them and told them they are loved, children will be fine" make my blood run cold. Surely having children is about more than feeding them and putting a roof over their heads?

You know, I was reading some of the commentary at the articles origin and looked at this line again. It reminded me of one of the last arguments I had with my mom. We have no contact for other reasons (a lot to do with my children's physical and emotional safety). But, I remember my mother being miserable when I was a kid. She was more interested in her soaps, than in me. I admit I will take "me time", but I am around my children a lot.

But that line reminded of my mom telling me what a wonderful mother she was. After years of holding my tongue I told her my thoughts. She went on about, "Didn't I do enough for you? You had shelter. You had clothes. You had food." Yes, she has told me she loves me and needs me. Usually when she wants something.

Being there emotionally counts for so much more in the long run.

Her kids probably adore her (/sarcasm).

She has no love for her children, it is obvious. How can you not enjoy reading to your kids? Things like that are what make life worth living!

What is she doing instead that's so important?

Poor children.. I wonder if she tells them how she really feels about them. One day they'll read what she wrote.
I added a comment to the article.
