They told the world that their relationship was like any other and that's why they should be allowed to marry. Now, friends say, they are showing once again that they are just like any other couple: Two years after getting married, Julie and Hillary Goodridge, lead plaintiffs in the state's landmark gay marriage case, are splitting.

The
Globe buried the lead, in my opinion:
Later that day, the Rev. William G. Sinkford, president of the Unitarian Universalist Association, officiated at their wedding at the church's building on Beacon Street. The couple wore matching white pantsuits.
Friends threw confetti in a rainbow of colors. Annie served as ring-bearer and flower girl. And jubilant friends sang: ``Here come the brides, so gay with pride. Long may you be, legally free. Finally hitched by a 4-3 decree."
Oh, how very clever.

HG, I hope you aren't all cracked up over this. They will probably have a divorce party, to set up a new household for the one moving out.

Next, they'll be getting restraining orders on each other, and trading accusations of child abuse.

Those two bow-wows look like they really do belong together.

Actually if all is "equal" in our justice system one of them will be paying spousal support for until the other remarries.

"...and like the other plaintiff couples in this case, they made an enormous contribution toward equal marriage. But they are no longer in the public eye, and request that their privacy be respected."
Now they want privacy. Note to all queers: please keep your WHOLE private life private. Thanks.

Breslauer said they have not filed for divorce. They did not?! Is it because the Supreme Court of Massachusetts did not create right for them to divorce?

I bet their victorian in JP will command a pretty price, too.

Next, they'll be getting restraining orders on each other, and trading accusations of child abuse. In the divorce proceedings, the court will screw over the one who owns the strap-on (or wore it 51% of the time).

THAT is "GAY"...

Hmmm...want to bet one of 'em turns that victorian into a B&B? Ewwww, I knew there was a reason I don't stay at those places!
I love the notion of spousal support, but who pays whom? The one who filed pays the other?

Tsk! HG, you don't *know* there's a strap-on. There could be a hermaphrodite. No need to thank me for the visual...

One of my wife's coworkers was a teacher who worked part time as a waitress at the Wayside Inn (yeah, the Wayside Inn) in Sudbury. She happened to be our server during our anniversary dinner a couple of years ago. Seems gay marriage caused an up tick in the restaurant and catering business. What was funny (to me) was hearing this rock solid teachers' union Democrat guffawing about gay nuptial celebrations she had worked.

"Julie Goodridge, 49, is president of NorthStar Asset Management, an investment advisory firm, and Hillary, 50, is program director for the Unitarian Universalist Funding Program."
