The FairTax was on the primary ballots in three Georgia counties yesterday. I have the results of the voting! Here you go.
Gwinnett County:
Total Votes: 35,755 Yes - 31,068. 86.9% No - 4,687 13.1%
Cobb County:
Total votes: 39,458 Yes - 33,598. 85.15% No - 5,860. 14.85%
Fayette County:
Total votes: 11,517 Yes - 9,828. 85.33% No - 1,689. 14.67%
According to Boortz the results of this vote will be personally handed to President Bush today via a Washington insider. The purpose of which is to convey the FACT that there is great support for this solution to current tax system and that this is a plan that can get the voters to the polls. Many of which called and e-mailed Boortz to say that they had no plans of voting yesterday until they learned that the Fair Tax was on the ballot.

Bush is a globalist.. does talk to the hand mean anything?..
Then google it - plenty of info out there...
Yes, we call them liberal Democrats.
And not a few repubs on the gravy train looking at the current Congress' spending habits.
Sorry to say the problem is not a Repub vs Democrap one. The problem is generic to staying in office by buying votes and pandering to the voter.
The system is designed to promote incumbancy and pander to the lowest common denominator. On the belief that he who delivers the goodies for the least tax on a voting constituent gets the most votes.
Guess where the votes are, it sure isn't with the few paying the top end tax rates.
"As a matter of fact, what the income tax does and this is the debate that I think we always try to get into in order to let you and him fight, see and the people of this country are led down a path where the actual control of their resources, which in the end is the control over their will, is handed off to the government." . . . "The government then manipulates that will in order to destroy the freedom of our electoral system through the income tax structure, and we call the resulting slavery a free system." "In point of fact, it is not as the founders understood, and the only way to restore real freedom is to give people back control over the income that they earn so that they wont, at the voting booth and in other phony issues, be subject to that manipulation." |
Neal was full of it. What was on the ballot a retail tax to replace property taxes. Not exactly a 30% retail tax. As usual, Neal does not provide the straight scoop.
Guess where the votes are, it sure isn't with the few paying the top end tax rates.

Yes, this is what Washington has degenerated into. That is why the voters must clean it out and redefine America as the founders meant it to be.
I'm no more impressed with a silly local stunt like this on national tax policy than I would be if there were nonbinding who-cares resolutions on hugging tress, lowering gas prices or saving baby seals.
Crackpot schemes like the FairTax never get any traction in Washington because there are too many sober people around. FDR was right -- radicals are people with both feet planted firmly in the air. Nobody with any sense in Washington is going to subject the American and Global economy to such simplistic nonsense. This fraud will be lucky to even get a hearing -- much less make it out of committee.
Amen to that!
I don't know why anyone puts entertainment personalities in some position of leadership or expertise. IMO that's dumb.
That said, I think the nrst would be very helpful to new construction - lower interest rates, faster savings, higher purchasing power for buyers...
BTW you never argued against my example showing how one of your potential customers would be more able to buy one of your homes under the nrst than the income tax. Is that because you agreed?
and the rest of the story - read my tagline.
The Gov't and the Socialists, who wont be able to rule a country where they don't have a choke hold on the people via the IRS (and we know who you are) will squeal loudly...providing yet another recognition point.
Most likely found between the books of St Marx and St Lennin.
The last nauseating thread had around 150 posts disavowing any association with Boortz, yet now he is resurrected as a new savior because 3 "booger flats" counties in Georgia took a loaded straw poll....
Go figure.
Hey DentistGo drill someone else's arse...while Bush is continuing to protect yours
Your characterization is ignorant of the STATES that are investigating a STATE fair tax for their states. Georgia is one of them.
While this particular article is by a paid entertainer and is likely inaccurate, it is the case that in primaries across the state, candidates were either for or against the "Georgia FairTax" as one of the bullet points on flyers, mailers, etc.
You ain't from these parts, are ya?
Why would you talk about Georgia in such a venomous manner? Jealous?
The fair tax was not on the ballot. What was on the ballot was if voters would support a retail tax in place of property tax. Boortz is full of it.
Not according to Gwinnet County official ballot results.
They are telling me Always Right, isn't.

I might have spoken too, but the only question I found on Georgia ballots concerned the property tax versus retail tax. Perhaps there were some counties that had the fair tax on it, but I would like to see the exact question if there was.
That said, I think the nrst would be very helpful to new construction - lower interest rates, faster savings, higher purchasing power for buyers
I still don't see how interest rates go down at the same time you are hyping a growing economy. Everytime the economy grows at a decent pace, the Feds raise rates. How does the sales tax overcome this?
BTW you never argued against my example showing how one of your potential customers would be more able to buy one of your homes under the nrst than the income tax. Is that because you agreed?
Nope, can't say I agree. A tax system that collects the same amount of money does nothing to increase buying power on average. All it does it shifts who pays and how it is paid. On average everyone will come out the same. In practice, there will be many who benefit, and many who don't. Reduced compliance cost will be good, but not nearly to the extent claimed. And making our exports more competitve will be a benefit at the expense of adding costs to imports.
He may change screennames and come back pro-tax reform.
As said so eloquently by Rush, you are right. Rush even said that while he likes the idea of the Fair Tax or even a flat tax, the power of taxation and playing with the tax code is the single largest power Congress has.
You are correct, I was looking at a news release from another county in georgia. What was the exact question on the ballot? If it just said do you support a Fair Tax, probably the only people who knew what it was were Boortz listeners
I'm not the one who took this local vote and drew conclusions on a proposed national tax. Boortz is.
How the citizens of Georgia decide to tax themselves for state and local expenditures is their business. Nobody who isn't a Georgian, and certainly not a damnyankee like me, has any business deciding how Georgians make such decisions.
The problem is knuckleheads who think that this vote has some meaning for national tax policy. It doesn't.
I made the mistake of reading the article and assuming Boortz accurately reported the facts -- that the FairTax was on the ballot. Shame on me for believing he would be accurate. Previously I thought he was merely confused and over his head -- now I know he's also not above misrepresenting local matters. I'll know better next time.
Without the exact wording of the question on the ballot(s) the information is less that worthless.
