HEADS UP !! MIND BOGGLING IRANIAN THREAT

HEADS UP - BREAKING NEWS - IRANIAN THREAT - BREAKING ON FR .

REPORTS FROM IRAN STATE:

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadi-Nejad has declared he will make an announcement on Wednesday July 19th, 2006 which:

"WILL LET THE MOSLEM WORLD AROUND THE GLOBE KNOW THAT AFTER THE ANNOUNCEMENT THEY WILL NOT HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT ISRAEL'S NUCLEAR ARMS OR NUCLEAR CAPABILITY EVER AGAIN"

This provides three possible scenarios:

1. Iran is about to nuke Israel.

2. Iran will declare they have nuclear capability with at least four missiles with NUCLEAR warheads (common knowledge in intelligence circles) that can easily reach all of Israel and threaten to use these against Israel if that country does not immediately cease attacks on the Hezbollah and Lebanon.

3. In the event that Israel does not comply, Iran will declare war on Israel and fire nuclear missiles, which would not leave much of a country over which any more fighting is logical.

HOPED FOR RESULT: Depending on the extent of damage to Israel and the ability of that country to continue as a nation in a radioactively polluted environment, already weak-kneed Western powers will call for creating non-aggression pacts with nuclear Iran.

MP: Majlis ready to consider withdrawal from NPT
Tehran, July 18, IRNA

Iran-Majlis-NPT
Head of Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Alaeddin Boroujerdi said here Tuesday that if the UN Security Council wants to issue a resolution making suspension of uranium enrichment mandatory, Majlis under current conditions might consider suspending Iran's NPT membership.

Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of today's Majlis open session, he said Iran has adopted a positive approach towards EU proposals from the beginning but the recent statement issued by G8 seems to be totally unacceptable and illogical.

The western countries have already experienced the decisive decisions made by Majlis on suspension of voluntary implementation of additional protocol to the NPT, he said.

He expressed the hope that the UN Security Council would not create a situation under which Iran which abides by rules and regulations of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and NPT would have to change its course.

In case the UN Security Council issues such a resolution, it would be against NPT and in total contradiction with clause four of the same treaty.

If Iran is deprived of such legitimate rights, there would be no reasons for the country to continue its cooperation, he pointed out.

He described the recent statement issued by the Group-8 as repetition of the statement issued by 5+1.

I sincerely hope you're right, but my gut and experience tells me you're not...

We're dealing with religious whackos who long for death here, not Policy-wonk bureaucrats looking to move up in the party to get a dascha....

And the button is being held by the Revolutionary Guards, who are just as nutty....

Israel has Patriot missiles for shooting down incoming missiles. According to a reporter on FOX in Israel, Patriot missiles were not designed to handle the new class of longer range missiles now being fired by Hezbollah. Based on this and if it's true (I never know when the media is accurate), I doubt Israel could protect itself from long range missiles from Iran. Otherwise, incoming missiles would be shot down now.

Israel has Arrow, which is designed (partly with US SDI technology) to be able to handle IRBMs.

My guess is that the US has Aegis ships in both the Eastern Med and Persian Gulf with Standard 3 capability ... just like we do sitting off North Korea. I would say that the chances of a nuke-tipped IRBM launched from Iran actually hitting Israel (as opposed to being shot down or hitting, say, Jordan, or Saudi Arabia, or nosediving into the PG or overshooting into the Med) are pretty slim. Worthy of respect (a 10% chance is still respectable, of course) ... but slim.

I'll take your bet. I believe MAD will continue to work, as it did between us and the Ruskies for 50 years. Does that mean Iran would be any less threatening? No. But, we learned to deal with and work with that threat before.

It's a very bad bet.

Those who underestimate Iran's blood lust for Israel's destruction do so at their (and the world's) peril.

I believe the report is wrong. During the first Gulf War they were shooting down some of the Scuds from Iraq with Patriot missiles. A missile fired from Iran would be arriving in Israel at almost the exact same trajectory and speed.

The Patriots have been improved since the first Gulf War and the Israelis have not been sitting on their hands. I believe they developed their own anti-missile system after the first Gulf War called Arrow. I have read reports that it is a very capable system, but who knows for sure until you see it work.

"They won't let him launch any fireworks"

Let us hope that Amadenjijad is just talking tough, playing politics, to make Iran sound like the leader of the ME.

But, while Iran may not want to directly nuke Israel, what if they covertly pass on a nuke or two to their terrorist buddies?

Given the accessibility of nuclear technology, and ME oil money, I can't help but think that we are going to see some city, hopefully not in the USA, get fired in the next few years if not sooner.)

On another thread, it was reported that 11 US Navy ships had moved into the eastern Med. To me, that means we have shifted the carrier battle group that is always in the Med to the east. At least one of those ships will be an Aegis cruiser. An Aegis equipped destroyer may also be in the group.

I don't think very many ships have been upgraded to the Standard 3, but the Standard 2 has been proven effective against incoming ballistic missiles, just not at the altitude of the Standard 3.

WE should've nuked Stalin in 1946 when we had the chance.

In 1946, the U.S. had only a handful of atomic bombs in the inventory, and at the time that MacArthur was calling for atomic bombing of the ChiComs, we only had 13 atomic bombs and those weapons were needed to deter the Soviet Union from invading Western Europe.

Had Truman agreed with MacArthur, the ChiComs would very likely have absorbed as many atomic strikes as we could toss at them, because they had (and have) a population surplus that is the perfect definition of "cannon fodder". But in such a hypothetical situation, it would have allowed the Soviets to sweep clear to the Atlantic coast because neither the U.S. or any of our allies in Europe had sufficient forces to slow down, let alone stop the Soviet Red Army.

Nuking Stalin would have been a "feel good" operation (just like nuking Chairman Mao) but the results would have been unfavorable for the West, to put it mildly.

At least in 1946 thru 1950.

Committing suicide? The neo-Iran leaders like Ahmadi-Nejad are of the Hojatieh persuasion/philosophy eagerly looking forward to Armageddon and apocalypse to bring back their 12th Imam, the Redeemer. The more who die the better. They are not thinking and do not think the way you and I do.

Think Pol Pot if that focuses it for you. He killed a million or two of his fellow countrymen for reasons that were logical to him but belong in an asylum for the totally insane.

"If they had them they would have used them"

You are SO wrong. Timing is everything- even with terrorism. There was no need. Till perhaps now. When their Hezbollah surrogates scream for help and require a bigger threat thn they pose themselves.

Their holes exit to other countries. I was not referencing spider holes. I was referencing their tunnel network they received from the subway contract they never had installed.

Seeing this thread, I'm not worried:

Cheers!

If you know where to shoot and we do not have all the info we need as to locations.

No, because the world will still tell Israel to "show restraint" even if they are hit with a nuke.

we have to realize that the Russians at least valued their society..their wives and mothers and sisters....and their children.....

Muslims do not value women....not wives nor sisters nor dtrs.....

they do not value children....they say they do, but they don't....a father that valued his children would seek to make a peaceful home and community.....

men that hate the world such as they do, are no better than Harris and Klebold in Littlton....

they have such sow esteem and such self-hatred.....that NOTHING is important and EVERYTHING is expendable...
