Cape man buoys theory missile downed jet (TWA Flight 800)

Cape man buoys theory missile downed jet By Joe Dwinell

A Bay State physicist is taking on the National Transportation Safety Board in federal court in Boston to help bolster his theory a missile is to blame for taking down TWA Flight 800 a decade ago.

“I don’t want this 10-year anniversary to go by without paying attention to this plausible theory,” said Tom Stalcup, a Falmouth resident who holds a doctorate in physics and heads up the Flight 800 Independent Researchers Organization.

Flight 800 exploded and crashed in the sea south of Long Island, N.Y., at 3 p.m. on July 17, 1996.

Stalcup’s group, linked mostly by the Internet, has filed a complaint in U.S. District Court in Boston seeking documents relating to the crash, including a “wreckage item” that exited the plane’s airframe at “apparent supersonic speeds.”

Stalcup alleges the Navy recovered this “smoking gun” wreckage.

Federal officials say the crash was an accident - not a missile strike from a Navy exercise or anything else

I Used to think it was a missle.

But after 10 years, ain't no way the government would have been able to cover that up and keep it covered up for this long.

By now, leaks would have been all over the place.

I guess it wasn't a missle now.

It was a missile.
It was a meteor.
It was superman

It was Superman shooting a missile from a meteor.

"for it to be a US navy missile - everyone on that ship would have known a missile was launched off long island the night this plane was downed. no way to cover that up, someone would have talked by now."

Thank you thank you thank you. This missile stuff is pure nut-baggery. To some people everything is a damn conspiracy. These people sound just like the 9/11-was-a-usaf-tanker crowd.

Yup, a low trajectory bolide entering Earth's atmosphere is going to look exactly like that.

Then it hit a plane.

nonetheless, the truth there really wasn't in doubt - I believe they did release a translation of the cockpit tapes, but egypt had a "different interpretation" of them, so we couldn't push it.

for it to be a US navy missile

Cashill makes the case for a missile, not necessarily a Navy missile. That's just one theory.

Come on now. Don't bring facts into this.

It was at night, right before the Olympics started in Atlanta.

And it was no missile or bomb. It was exposed wires that ignited the vapor in the fuel tank.

And terrorists don't have the kind of radar guided missiles necessary to blow a 747 out of the sky when it is at 15,000+ feet.

I was in England when the crash happened, and flew back to NYC a couple of days later. When I arrived, I remember that there were searches being conducted along the beaches and dunes in that area (it's a giant park that extends along Long Island) looking for evidence of a rocket launcher or other evidence of a missile. The very first reports were still in the papers, and they described people sitting on outdoor patios and docks and boats and looking up and seeing a streak of light headed up into the sky - followed by an explosion, which they later learned was the plane.

At some point, I did read - probably in the NY Post - that something had been found in the dunes, possibly a tripod or something else that could have been used in firing a missile. IIRC, there was also a picture or a diagram. I can't remember how long after the crash that happened, but I don't think it was immediately afterwards (may have been a couple of months), and I don't think it was found by the "official" search teams but by somebody out walking. I also don't recall what the final decision was - someone launching fireworks? A prank? In any case, the whole subject disappeared very quickly.

that is still a possibility - someone else's missile. could a terrorist missile with that range have been fired from a boat off the coast?

I've seen estimates that the U.S. military had conducted experiments on something like 60,000 human subjects (primarily military personnel) over many years (primarily from the 1940s to the 1960s). The fact that they managed to cover that up for so long leads me to believe that it would be perfectly reasonable for them to cover up something involving a relatively small number of Navy personnel.

This doesn't mean TWA Flight 800 was shot down, mind you . . . it just means that the "They never could have covered it up for so long" rationale simply doesn't work in my book.

Oh, I get it.....this pointy head has a doctorate degree and is the head of some blog smog.

Well, I guess we are all supposed to bow now.......and not question his doctorate backed authority.

I smell the same thing from all the self-professed, Global Warming "experts."

seeking documents relating to the crash, including a “wreckage item” that exited the plane’s airframe at “apparent supersonic speeds.”

Ummm....show me that. Apparent, yea....

If it was not under it's own power, the Mach + speed would have been very short lived. Very short.

I simply ask myself, "Self, why was Mr. Richard Clarke so pleased with himself that he bragged about concocting the TWA 800 'exit strategy' -- i.e., the center fuel tank thing?"

I also remember the ridicule, abuse and threats some Americans endured for years until some truth about Ruby Ridge and Waco was finally exposed.

So I'll just keep waiting until the spinners get so dizzy they lose their balance -- then with the turth about OKC and TWA 800 they lose their butts. Ten-plus years and counting. . . .

There were unexplained boats in the area -- other than US Navy. There are just too many independent witnesses for this to be explained away as the 'official' version says.
