I've seen estimates that the U.S. military had conducted experiments on something like 60,000 human subjects (primarily military personnel) over many years (primarily from the 1940s to the 1960s). The fact that they managed to cover that up for so long leads me to believe that it would be perfectly reasonable for them to cover up something involving a relatively small number of Navy personnel.

This doesn't mean TWA Flight 800 was shot down, mind you . . . it just means that the "They never could have covered it up for so long" rationale simply doesn't work in my book.

what did they do, brain wash the crew? all of them, regular americans who volunteered for the navy - are going to cover this up, not speak a word of it, for 10 years?

Well I don't believe people of good consciences would not speak up.I do think there was a coverup and I don't know why.

And had those tests had brought down a commercial airplane in the middle of the exercise area then how long do you think that coverup would have lasted?

No it doesn't work.

But you'll never convince an Ostrich not to stick his head in the sand to ignore something uncomfortable.

I don't know if TWA 800 was shot down, blew up from exposed wiring in or near a gas tank, or simply came apart because Mike Moore's fat a$$ was riding in the tail section.

But I do know this.

I've learned to keep my mouth shut when I haven't personally witnessed an event and/or don't have some technical expertise in what I'm talking about.
