Major Bevelacqua on O'Reilly Compared Israel to the Nazis for their "Lack of Comprimise"
Posted on 07/18/2006 5:13:29 PM PDT by Yaakov The Orator
On the O'Reilly Factor, Maj. Bob Bevelacqua compared the Israel to the Nazis for their so-called lack of comprimise. He said that Israel going out of Lebanon and Gaza was like "The Nazis going out of Moscow" and proceeded to say that Israel needed to be more willing to comprimise.

Good evening.
"...he as has some great insight into tactics in the past....not so much on politics"
Is there any difference beyond degree, in war and politics?

Reading that "Nation" article (I need a shower now) I noticed the typical DU talking points. And shows why he soured on the Iraqi War--he lost out contracts to Haliburton you suppose? Here Bevelacqua is quoted:
"We put civilians in charge--the CAP--and that was because the Pentagon and White House wanted to control the war without having to go through the military. Now that we are in the phase when large amounts of money are being let out in contracts and private industry has to be brought in, that all has to be controlled by the White House. Is it a coincidence that one of the largest companies that was awarded a contract in Iraq is aligned with Dick Cheney?"

I don't think we should be calling him names based on this considering his service as a Green Beret.
First of all he was an officer. I don't much like officers. Officers get medals if they make it through the chow line. He was a Major. That means he got promoted 3 times. I was a SGT, that means I got 4 promotions. I guess that makes me more of an expert on this.
Major Bob is an arrogant twerp that is worried about his little business.

I did just the other day, believe it or not, but I believe Clausewitz is the source.
It's simple truth isn't it?

Yeah, I saw that over the weekend. Hadn't seen Bob in a long while.
He sounded more like a Euro or a UN official, talking about Israel's lack of restraint.
Didn't know about his business in Lebanon.

A week's worth of missions. 250 max civilian dead. That's nothing. You just might have a different opinion if one of the 250 dead was your mother, father, brother, sister, cousin, friend, neighbor, associate, etc. You would probably be upset, unless you do not possess the normal range of human emotion. You might just blame Israel, the folks that dropped the bombs. And if you had no way to vent your frustration you might just find a way to get back....thus, the circle of violence in the MidEast.

Not that I'm "coming down on you", but there are a bunch of us retired majors out here who were mostly prior enlisted and who were over 20 years of service when the early 90s "peace dividend" came around and were told to retire. There are some who retired as majors at 15-19 years of service because they were given early pro-rated retirements to meet drawdown demands. I fall into the first category, my neighbor falls into the second.
And by the way, he has always seemed to be a poser and a loser.

But Bob's supposed to be a military expert. He's supposed to know that the IDF has shown incredible restraint thus far and not allow the emotions to get the best of him. Certainly not to compare what's going in there to the seige in Leningrad or the actions of the Wehrmacht and Waffen-SS on the Eastern Front.
If he wants to spout off like that, fine. But if he's going to be a paid military expert, FOX might want to rethink having him on.
