Six launches including Taepodong-2 were confirmed...the additional launches were being investigated

It is possible that N. Korea launched six additional launches of short-range and shore-to-ship missiles, in addition to six launches of Taepodong-2, Nodong, and Scud surface-to-surface missiles, during dawn and morning hours of July 5th.

Senior government sources said, "The confirmed launches so far by N. Koreans are one Taepodong launch and five launches of Nodong and Scud missiles, totaling six. However, we have indications that, between 7am and 8:13am, six additional missiles are launched, which we are trying to confirm." These additional missiles are likely to be 'Seersucker' shore-to-ship missiles (range: 100~120km) and Scuds(range: 300~500km.)

The (S. Korean) government officially announced (this morning) that, on July 5th, at 5am, N. Korea launched Taepodong-2 missile at Taepodong, Hwa-dae County, N. Hamkyong Province, and, starting at 3:32am, several Scud and Nodong missiles at Kitaeryong, Anbyun County, Kangwon Province.

Intelligence agencies determined that Taepodong-2 blew up mid-air over East Sea, 40 seconds after its launch, turning the test into a failure.

It's late but lets connect some dots here. Stinky (Ahmadingyjob) has been working with NK on missiles. Stinky seems to be stalling on a deal with the EU for some time in August. It may be that Stinky wanted to announce that he is in possession of the successful NK missile and the negotiations have now changed.

NK's failure to launch an erectile projectile may have put a crimp in Stinky's plans unless NK will try again soon.

We don't know how many missles were launched, but we somehow know that the missle that exploded just happened to be the long-range one.

I think it's safe to say the Japanese and South Korean media knows a helluva lot more than the domestic U.S. media, who was relying on Japanese and South Korean media reports.

Personally, I don't think it's too difficult to believe that the Taepodong-2 failed (wasn't destroyed by our anti-missile defenses). As opposed to the Scuds which were provided by people who more or less knew what they were doing, the Taepodong-2 is something of an indigenous design. I have no doubt that North Korean quality control stinks, and even with technically proficient countries, things happen, particularly when testing new technology (Project Vanguard ring a bell?).

Also, how exactly do we know what type of range the Taepodong-2 has? I've reports that say it can reach Alaska and a few that say it can reach much of the west. However, we haven't exactly been able to see a test of its capabilities (at least until now at least). Are these numbers pulled out of someone's rear?

I tend to agree with those who have said that there's a difference between what the press knows (what we're reading) and what our mil intel knows.

OTOH I also agree with you that our surveillance tech capabilities are exaggerated. Something as simple as a cloud can negate any optical surveillance from space. Some people think that it's impossible to evade infra-red from lower flying vehicles too. But every animal over forty pounds is another red blob on the ground.

The stuff works pretty good in Afghanistan and Iraq though where there aren't any trees or many animals. Have you seen any of the videos of C-130s taking out terrorists at night in Afghanistan?

It all depends upon a lot of variables. It's comforting to know that we have far better tech than anyone else in the world. As long as our gooberment keeps it aimed at enemies.

I think that you are right. But I would ask you to consider the following. Who else was part of "employing" Clinton to do as he did.............. giving away the store to empower China and consequently empower others. Why was it allowed?

And, why is it not being exposed in any meaningful way by the old media now?

I think I know the answer and the answer is pretty ugly.
