Immigration key to Utah election
Washington Times ^ | 6/23/06 | Charles Hurt

Posted on 06/23/2006 3:40:49 AM PDT by Dane

PROVO, Utah -- Rep. Chris Cannon is a loyal Republican with the endorsement of the National Rifle Association and a 100 percent rating from the American Conservative Union. He is unmarred by the ethical scandals that have roiled Washington in this election season....

Tuesday's matchup in Utah is viewed as a bellwether for how immigration issues play out nationwide. "If you want to throw the bums out, you can do that," Mr. Cannon said during his debate with Mr. Jacob earlier this month. Responded Mr. Jacob: "When you talk about throwing the bums out, I'm just working on one right now."

Hmm I noticed that the Washington Times left out the ringing endorsemnt of Chris Cannon from good conservative and well respected Congressman on FR, James Sensenbrenner.

In a week where Cannon has received endorsements from President Bush and first lady Laura Bush, he released a new one Wednesday from one of the toughest critics of the Senate bill and its path-to-citizenship proposal, House Judiciary Committee chairman James Sensenbrenner, R-Wis. In a recorded message, Sensenbrenner said Cannon is "a major force in Congress." "And long before it was fashionable, Chris Cannon was working with me to stop illegal immigration. Just about everybody in Congress is talking about immigration, but Chris Cannon is one of the few doing the heavy lifting to actually solve the problem."

LinK

Seems that mass hysteria has swept some on FR with hatred and vitriol of good conservative Chris Cannon, also for Mr. Jacob for his bums comment, I guess he has never heard of the addage :it takes one to know one".

Also below is a link to Jacob's Disneyland style amnesty plan, "fast pass".

Link

I'm still sticking with my prediction that Cannon wins with 60%.

The voters are much smarter than the one issue activists who initiated this primary with an opprutunistic wealthy political neophyte, John Jacob, who it seems has his own "amnesty" plan, "fast pass".

Dane, stop lying.

Fast Passs does not grant a "pathway to citizenship", unlike Cannons plan.

It seems that you have left out Cannon's own words:-

"We love immigrants in Utah and we don't oftentimes make the distinction between legal and illegal,"

"In fact, I think Utah was the first state in the country to legislate the ability to get a driver's license based on the matricula consular and of that I am proud".

Jacob will make 99% of the votes cannon would, but he won't be squishy on the number one issue. Go John Jacob!

What is so "smart" with picking a fight with a person, Chris Cannon, who has a 100% ACU rating.

It's not "smart", it's pure ego driven spite.

Wayne are you bryant gumball? Sure sounds like it with your animus towards a guy(Willard Scott) whose "crime" is announcing people who have made their 100th birthday.

See reply 4 of this thread.

Anyone who says this deserves no support. And all your wishing and talking won;t change that.

The bottom line is that I will never vote vote for anyone who accepts illegal aliens in this country or provides for amnesty. I am not alone, and the number of us who feel this way is large and growing.

Why are you so interested in this PRIMARY election race between two somewhat conservative Republicans? There are hundreds of other primary elections coming up. But you're focusing on this one. And no matter which Republican wins this Primary, they will win the General election. They're both somewhat conservative. The only real difference is that Cannon is for amnesty and rewarding illegal aliens with benefits, privileges, and citizenship. Jacob, on the other hand, is committed against this.

You tout Cannon's conservative credentials while trashing other Republicans with even more conservative voting records.

Your agenda is plainly obvious and it is in line with the marxist-organized illegal alien street marchers as well as the leftist Democrats like Pelosi, Kennedy, Kerry, and Clinton.

Why you continue to be permitted to abuse this CONSERVATIVE forum to press for your leftist and liberal positions and candidates and help the marxists and Democrats (as if there really is a difference) is disturbing. You misrepresent the more conservative candidate's positions and you slander him using the lies invented by a pro-Marxist Democrat (Yapias) and others.

I have yet to discern just what your interest is in this campaign. It seems like you like the status quo just as it is and are willing to fight for it.

There are others here on FR that think it's time for a change. John Jacob is more conservative that Cannon. He will win the congressional seat without question if he wins the primary. He has never stated "fast pass" is the only viable plan...he threw it out as a option to complete amnesty...which is what Cannon is pushing (and the other "good ol' boys).

Grab a clue Dane, voters are sick and tired of the same old, same old, do nothing stance of the congress. This is exactly where we need to take the fight because it is one we cannot lose. Either way Utah will end up with a conservative Republican Representative. Jacob is a staunch conservative Republican, and a former Freeper. What the heck do you have against him to continue your smear with this "fast pass" talking point. We all clearly see you've jumped on the PR bandwagon for Cannon...and you don't even live in Utah.

Gee, waynem, maybe you and the bryant gumball machine should have lunch sometime, especially with your shared animus of Willard Scott(who BTW, was the first Ronald McDonald, heck invite a PETA whacko to your Willard Scott hatefest, you all will probably have a gay old time).

In 1989 Gumbel wrote a memo to Today Show executive producer Marty Ryan, which was critical of other Today Show personalities. This memo was leaked to the press. In the memo, Gumbel commented that Willard Scott "holds the show hostage to his assortment of whims, wishes, birthdays and bad taste...This guy is killing us and no one's even trying to rein him in."

Beat that strawman. Whip it. Whip it good.

What a totally unremarkable pro-illegal alien thread from Dane. Half a dozen posts by Dane and not one of them even hints at addressing the reason Cannon's campaign is spinning more lies and tall tales than Bill Clinton at a floozy convention. Can Dane continue to tap dance around the relevant issue and misdirect the argument through the entire history of this thread?

With ease.
