Come on Dane, what State do you reside in?

As I recall Dane was/is from Pennsylvania. No doubt he'll be at the Arlen Specter field hearings complaining the Senate bill is way too restrictive. :)

Dane is taking a much needed break from FR today. This primary in Utah is just too much, I guess!

He is a good man.

You're a good man, but I wouldn't vote for you. "Good" is not a measure of competence.

Jacob's inability to explain his own "FastPass" immigration plan is a measure of competence, however, and he's not very.

Fast pass is simply talking points for Cannon. One thing for sure, you and Dane stay on task.

Tell me specifically what is the problem with sending all illegals back and making them reapply for reentry. What is the problem?

LOL...I just reread your post. Perhaps I am the best "man" for the job. Good, honest and competent is more of a reason to vote for someone than incumbent, wishy-washy, entrenched.

How is he going to get them to go back?
Who would qualify for reentry?
Can they bring their families?

The primary is next week, and he can't answer details of his own immigration plan. If FastPass is a Cannon talking point, it's because Jacob handed Cannon the gun he's going to use to end Jacob's candidacy.

It far better to send them home and make them reapply than simply handing them carte blanch amnesty.

As I said in a previous post, what would make you think that a junior congressman is going to get his amnesty plan passed? What planet do you live on?

Jacob's plan is better than Cannons and he will also vote with the Republican block and have a 100% ACU rating. Mark my words.

Jacob is not going to get elected, certainly he isn't after promoting an immigration plan he can't explain.

Announcing "FastPass" killed his candidacy.

We'll see.

Another unforeseen influence on this election is the "closed" Republican primary. In Utah you must declare Republican party affiliation in order to vote in the primary. Dems never or rarely hold primaries...it's hard enough to find one candidate...let alone two, so therefore no one declares Democratic affiliation.

Unaffiliated voters my declare affiliation on the day of primary. I wonder how many Dems might show up (in this highly contested race) and throw in a vote. It could change the dynamic completely.

Rep. Chris Cannon is a loyal Republican with ...100 percent rating from the American Conservative Union.

What a travesty. I gues the ACU is not longer very convservative.

Jacobs shot himself in the foot today. He blamed Satan for his failed business ventures. He then realized what he had said and mumbled "now I will be called one of those screw loose people". He is toast.

Fast pass is a stupid idea, I admit, but it's not nearly as bad as the outright amnesty Cannon supports.

Jacob's a flawed canidate, but we don't live in a perfect wrold. Fact is he's he's a HUGE improvment over open-borders Cannon, and that's enough for true conservatives to get behind him.

Even if he believes that Satan is conspiring against him?

Fast pass is just a proposal to ELIMINATE amnesty by requiring illegals to leave the country and reapply for worker status.

Nonsense. Fast pass is nothing more than amnesty with a short stop in Mexico. Anything that lets law breakers cut in line ahead of folks patiently waiting in line in their home countires is still an amnesty.

It may not be as bad as what Cannon supports, but it's still idiotic.

Republican congressional hopeful John Jacob of Utah is accusing the devil of trying to sabotage his campaign to beat incumbent Representative Chris Cannon by foiling his business deals. Since announcing his candidacy, Jacob has had numerous business deals tank, preventing him from contributing as much money to the campaign as he had planned.

Jacob tells The Salt Lake Tribune's editorial board that his misfortune can't be blamed on anything except Satan, saying, "I don't know who else it would be if it wasn't him. Now when that gets out in the paper, I'm going to be one of the screw-loose people."

Here it is, from the Salt Lake Tribune:

"There's another force that wants to keep us from going to Washington, D.C.," Jacob said. "It's the devil is what it is. I don't want you to print that, but it feels like that's what it is."

Jacob said Thursday that since he decided to run for Congress against Rep. Chris Cannon, Satan has bollixed his business deals, preventing him from putting as much money into the race as he had hoped.

Numerous business deals he had lined up have been delayed, freezing money he was counting on to finance his race.

"You know, you plan, you organize, you put your budget together and when you have 10 things fall through, not just one, there's some other, something else that is happening," Jacob said.

Asked if he actually believed that "something else" was indeed Satan, Jacob said: "I don't know who else it would be if it wasn't him. Now when that gets out in the paper, I'm going to be one of the screw-loose people."

Source.
