What is creepy to you is that the buildings are packed like a bee hive.
It is common in most civilizations to have street access to all dwellings and some of these are 5 houses deep with no way to get in but to crawl between homes.
If there were cars, they could not make it to most dwellings in this picture.

Yeah, but there's no urban sprawl so that's a good thing.

Don't see any people around anywhere, perhaps the UN could be convinced to transplant themselves there.

There is indeed. While we can't know for sure (nor do I think I want to know) the depths of depravity of which Kim Jong Il is capable of, the thought occurs to me that his intentions regarding the North Korean people may be not unlike that of Hitler towards the German people as the fuehrerbunker was threatening to cave in on him, or more likely that of the infamous "Reverend" Jim Jones, who forced his followers into mass suicide via cyanide when he realized that his Marxist "Jonestown" experiment was about to go bust after the visit of the late Congressman Leo Ryan.
KJI, should he be contemplating his own demise, may view all of the North Korean people as expendable, because as any murdering criminal knows, it is the witnesses you leave behind who write your history, ergo, Kim most likely would prefer to see everyone in that failed worker's paradise die with him, rather than to let anyone survive.
Now whether or not he has the MEANS to carry that out, remains to be seen. If there were any lingering tyrants who deserve the fate of Romania's Ceasescu and his wife, it is certainily Kim Jong Il and his poisonous clan.

Something's creepy about these pictures... This is exactly how the Democrats and Greenies would wish for US to live - if they had the power to make it happen.
This is Kyoto, taken to the limits....

There are lots of buildings, but the place looks deserted. There are a few people, but almost no signs of human occupation, no laundry on the line, no rugs airing on balcony railings, etc. The place looks like a ghost town with a few extras walking the streets.

No kidding...everything looks dead.

Don't see much in the way of commercial enterprises. Where does anyone buy anything? Oh, that's right, no money. Perfect for those who hate "consumerism."
Also, I wonder how many working elevators there are in those buildings?
