(Denny Crane: "Every one should carry a gun strapped to their waist. We need more - not less guns.")
Because he realizes that thousands of other human beings won't be butchered.
Ping.
Those who beat their swords into plowshares will plow for those who don't.
There...that's more truthful.
For the record - a pacifist is a person who never had to fight for their life or suffer atrocities committed on their loved ones. There's no way I could understand any "forgiveness" for the animals who killed their children no matter how convoluted.
It probably takes a lot of education to counter natural urges and inclinations toward survival. Berg is not an aristocrat of the spirit who throws away his life for a noble principle, but a pauper, who's life is a meaningless shell. But then is it really? When he has the cameras pointing a him it seems that he, like Cindy, would kill for the attention.
"How can a human being be glad that another human being is dead?"
Simple, some peaple just need killin'!
This berg is one sick man. The scary part is all the play the leftist MSM is giving him.
Pacifists make my skin crawl.
"Here is one example: "Zarqawi felt my son's breath on his hand as held the knife against his throat. Zarqawi had to look in his eyes when he did it. George Bush sits there glassy-eyed in his office with pieces of paper and condemns people to death. That to me is a real terrorist."
Stone. Cold. Moonbat.
I hope Coulter covered this idiot in her book.
I believe Berg sent his son to Iraq hoping something like the situation that actually occured would happen. His son had no business being there and was on his way to the airport to leave when he was captured. Berg's reaction from the start was strange, like he wanted a martyr to further his pacifist cause. The poor kid was bait for his father's twisted ideals.
Most every one that posts here would never stick their head on a knife knowing their children would follow them in death. That's why we are "prepared" (OK, armed to the teeth) to protect ourselves and those we love. When someone acts as unnatural as Michael Berg, you know something is rotten.

''a program of unilateral disarmament in the face of evil'' At work today two libs were blathering on about the three suicides at Gitmo . I asked them ,what they, would have done with them? One lib said if Bush wasn't going to give them a legal trial he should of just let them go. The other one said '' No ,we should've ''brought them to the table'' and incorporated them into the American society........ I was fuming by then and told them these terrorists believe that anybody that doesn't think the way they do should be eliminated. Don't you guys get that? All I got back from both of them was two blank stares. Then they just shrugged and walked away. ......... What is it with these people?!I'm beginning to believe these libs are truly brain damaged, either that, or they really don't believe there is any such thing as evil that exists in our world today!
Excellent thread.
"Among its many moral and intellectual weaknesses, pacifism ensures that cruelty will prevail on earth. When asked by talk show host Michael Medved if he, Berg, would have killed Zarqawi as the terrorist was about to cut his son's throat, Berg said he would instead throw his body in front of the knife -- thereby ensuring, as Medved noted, that two innocent people would be murdered.
That is the consequence of pacifism -- far more cruelty and death. But the spread of evil apparently means little to pacifists. There must be some joy in feeling oneself so morally superior to those who believe that killing is sometimes morally necessary that even the ritual murder of one's son does not shake the pacifist's fanaticism."

The media is pushing propaganda. And they need to have a poster boy to sell their lies and spin.
They believe that they have found people who have dealt personally with tragedy and therefore are above criticism for anything they may say.
Only thing is they do NOT speak for all people who have dealt with these very same losses. Even with these families there is ideological split. Therefore the media is deliberately giving a biased and unbalanced view.
Michael Berg tried to draw an comparison between Zarqawi and President Bush on a number of programs last week.
Maybe someone has quotes of him saying that Bush was worse or even that it would've been a better day if Bush had perished instead of Zarqawi.
Berg was all over the media and so I can't remember exact quotes (I did listen to him for over 20 minutes on Michael Medved's radio show).
Michael Berg did not come across to me as a pacifist. He seemed like the sort who'd be happy with the death of the president.
