By PATRICK QUINN BAGHDAD, Iraq Jun 8, 2006 (AP) Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, the al-Qaida-linked militant who led a bloody campaign of suicide bombings, kidnappings and hostage beheadings in Iraq, has been killed in a U.S. air raid north of Baghdad, Iraq's prime minister said Thursday.

Moved to location, swept through the site and identified 6 persons having been killed.
I think that (potentially) more significant than Zarqawi's death are the deaths of the 7 (according to some reports) aides that were with him at the time of the bombing. Hopefully these were some high-ups and not just his camel grooms. That would be a bigger blow to the insurgency terrorists.

I live about 15 min. by car, from West Point..
As I sit here typing, I can hear the booming sounds of (cannons)?, going off. It happens this time, every year.
The sounds just remind me of what is going on for real, over in Iraq, esp., in view of what happened to Zarqawi.
God Bless all our military for what they do for us.

The Army got Saddam, the Air Force blew up Zarqawi, hopefully the Marines will remove Bin Laden from the Earth.

You suppose the flag in front of the DNC has been lowered to half staffed? Probably upside down too. What's good for the US is bad for the DUmmies.

Rumsfeld is talking about the area where Zarqawi was found/killed is where a garbage bag of heads was found.

I believe it's the sober truth. I do like the fact that he was blown to bits. In fact I think his death should have been much slower. But, hey...as long as we're seen as occupiers, there will be insurgents. And thus more bosses of insurgents.
The hope here is that they won't be as effective as this guy was, but time will tell.
To: mainepatsfan
Too bad Stauffenberg couldn't have called in an air strike with two 500 pound bombs. If Stauffenberg was a suicide bomber he would have killed Hitler.
