Welcome to the live thread for the California Primary Election. Polls are open until 8pm tonight. If you are a registered voter, it is your duty to vote and defend your rights and civil liberties, protect your pocketbook, and vote the bums out where applicable.
Feel free to discuss issues key to your local area that others may be interested in. Post your polling place experiences if you like. And post numbers as they come in later tonight.

If a permanent absentee voter fails to return ballot, doesn't he / she get kicked off "permanent" status? If not, they should be.

He has token challengers. John Zeigler (KFI from 7-10pm) had them in studio for a debate. They're pretty nutty. I think Zeigler decided his protest vote would go to the guy who believes God told him to be governor. Don't remember which guy that was.

Depends on the registrar. The rolls are culled but I don't know at what frequency.
When my Mother passed I was told to return her ballot marked "deceased" which must've worked as she didn't get one for this primary.

Great thread, CCC. Thanks for posting all the stuff.
I just voted using the high-tech? Ink-A-Vote system.
For Prop 81 and 82, I left the pen on the page so th ink soaked in and made a very big NO mark.

That's how is it here in Orange County, CA - if you miss 2 consecutive general elections - I hope it is the same for other counties: http://www.oc.ca.gov/ELECTION/Material/permapp.pdf New legislation has been passed that allows any registered voter to become a Permanent Absentee Voter (PAV). To become a Permanent Absentee Voter, please complete the information requested in this application and return it to our office for processing. You will automatically be mailed an absentee ballot for every election at which you are entitled to vote. You will no longer need to re-apply for an absentee ballot each election. Statutes require that we terminate your PAV status if you fail to return an executed absentee ballot in two consecutive statewide general elections. In this case, you would need to re-apply for PAV status.

I'm still at work and will be for some time - did you know you can request a "permanent" absentee ballot now? I find that much easier.

I told him if I make up a cardboard sign with MY DAD VOTED FOR THE RAILROAD GUY in crayon, would he hold it up at the meeting. And he said?

I voted here in Orange County at around 2PM. All machines were in use and I had to wait about ten minutes to vote.

Never wanted to do that because I like checking out the scene where I vote to see what is happening there.

This is OT but I saw a "HILLARY/OBAMA for freedom in 2008" bumper sticker in my local Albertson's parking lot yesterday. Eek!
