My current wife and I voted at 9:30 this morning at our regular polling place. There were 6 precinct workers and 7 Dim "observers". I asked how the turnout was and she said only 65 had voted so far and said that was low. There were 4 voters there and they were all Pubbies!. This is the heaviest R district in Eureka which isn't saying much :(

BTW...the Registrar said less than 45% of the absentee ballots had been returned, down from last election even...

Here is a fun little Datamar poll that predicts great things tonight, including a total wipeout of the propositions. That is the good news. The bad news is that it predicts more Republicans will be voting than Democrats. That isn't going to happen. The poll is biased! What a shame.

Hi, Torie! I am going to check in on this thread from time to time throughout the evening. I am still woefully uninformed about much of California's politics, although I keep trying to keep up!

If the Meathead proposition is voted down in this primary, is it ended? It can't reappear easily on the fall ballot, can it?

Yes, the poll is as one-sided in the GOP direction as the Field Poll is in the Donk direction.

Pure rubbish.

I went and looked at the internals of the poll at the website so I could see the GOP and Donk numbers on the Propositions... but they didn't include them... If they were there I could have weighted the percentages and got a clearer picture of what the actual poll results should have been if they were weighted correctly. Oh well... I guess they didn't publish that set of data because they knew some people could do this.

The only way it could be on the ballot in November is if they got sufficient signatures on a petition (around 700,000 or so). There's no way for that to happen between now and the deadline. But it will be back in some form later.

I think Phil by 3, Pro 82 goes down by 5, and Prop 81 passes barley......

I just got back from voting in Encinitas. Man it is so weird voting for Bilbray to take over Duke's seat, but voting for Kaloogian in the primary.

I guess it makes more sense that if that if the absolute worst happens and Busby edges in, there's still a large population of Rs to vote for in the primary to replace her in November.

But, that's just crazy talk...I'm gunna go out on a limb and predict a decisive win for Bilbray and endless whining from Busby....then, we'll see how Kaloogian does...fingers crossed.

I went in around 3:30 and it was SLOW.

That is not good news since this means conservatives are not racing to the polls.

The government employees/unions will vote at least moderately because both propositions empower them.

I called several Republicans who did not remember that today was voting day.

If the Republican/conservative base wants results, they really have to learn to get their @ss out to the polls.

Mine was the only signature on the pages out of 60 people.

I did get a zinger in.

The poll worker was giving instructions as to how to successfully complete a vote with the card and tools.

When they came to me, they were about to repeat the whole thing again to me.

I told them, don't bother, I'm Republican so I understood the first time.

Based on smiles and frowns in the room, I knew who were Republicans and who were Democrats. :)
