Welcome to the live thread for the California Primary Election. Polls are open until 8pm tonight. If you are a registered voter, it is your duty to vote and defend your rights and civil liberties, protect your pocketbook, and vote the bums out where applicable.
Feel free to discuss issues key to your local area that others may be interested in. Post your polling place experiences if you like. And post numbers as they come in later tonight.

Are you reporting to local party headquarters?

Did you know you can request a "permanent" absentee ballot now? I find that much easier. Thank you ~ I love our little community and really enjoy voting with neighbors,
even the dastardly Dems!

I like going to the polling place--there is a certain sense of satisfaction that comes from punching the ballot on voting day. But the absentee ballots do offer flexibility. For the last election, since I unexpectedly had to go out of town, I drove 40 miles to the county offices on the Sunday preceding the election to vote electronically. Of course, my vote was subject to Diebold software, so I'm not sure my vote really got counted. ;-)

He just laughed and moved on. My Current wife's 92 year old friend call just after that and said she had a call from the Humboldt County Repulician Women to be at the Samoa Cookhouse tomorrow to meet with the Big A and they told her it was top secret. LOL >:o)<

If I saw something wrong I would.
I saw that everything by me was in good order.
Republicans looked decisive and Democrats kept voting successfully for Buchanan.

I also like knowing my vote is included with the ones announced ASAP.
When exactly do the absentee votes get counted?

Some are counted at the same time. Orange County, for instance, was releasing the "raw" count of returned absentees for the June 6th election. A "raw" count is the number of absentee envelopes returned each day from the United States Post Office. However, this number will not be the final count since some absentees are returned (as an example) without signatures, valid signatures, or do not contain ballots.
Until the absentees are verified and opened, an "actual" count cannot be determined. This takes place during the final days leading up to the election (not tallied) and in the days following. The "actual" count will be included in the unofficial election results after each absentee ballot has been verified as valid.

Turnout here in Kern downgraded from 40% to 35%....But still above the state aveage which is better than the special election when for the first time in forever it was below the state aveage......

On the local news this evening the Registrar said absentee ballots were very disappointing. Todays mail had only 1000 on a normal of 2000 on the last day. That is based on the already dismal voting record of local folks...
