A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997. Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay, or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY
If you have a suggestion, or an idea, or if there's a FReeper you would like to see featured, please drop one of us a note in FR mail.
We're having fun and hope you are!

You Know You're Addicted to the Internet When...
- Your bookmarks list takes 15 minutes to scroll from top to bottom.
- Your eyeglasses have a web site burned into them.
- You find yourself brainstorming for new subjects to Google.
- You refuse to go to a vacation spot with no electricity and no phone lines.
- You finally do take that vacation, but only after buying a cellular modem and a laptop.
- You spend half of the plane trip with your laptop on your lap.... and your kid in the overhead compartment.
- Your dreams are in HTML.
- You find yourself typing "com" after every period when using a word processor.
- You turn your computer off and get this awful empty feeling, like you just pulled the plug of your loved one.
- You step out of the room and realize that your roomates have moved and you don't have any idea when it happened.
- You turn up the volume real loud when leaving the room so you can hear if anyone IM's you.
- You wife drapes a blond wig over the monitor to remind you of what she looks like.
- All of your friends have an @ in their names.
- Looking at a pageful of someone else's links, you notice that you've been to all of them.
- You check your mail. It says "no new messages." So you check it again.
- You don't know what sex three of your closeset friends are, because they have nuetral screennames and you never bothered to ask.
- You miss more than five meals a week downloading the latest MP3's.
- You wake up at 3 a.m. to go to the bathroom and stop and check your e-mail on the way back.
- Your virtual girlfriend finds a new sweetheart with a larger bandwidth.
- The last hottie you picked up was only a jpeg.
- You start tilting your head sideways to smile. :)
- Your sweetie says communication is important in a marriage...so you buy another computer and network them together so that you can IM each other anytime.
- You start using smileys in your snail mail.....
- You bring a bag lunch to the computer.
- You have withdrawals if you are away from the computer for more than a few hours.
- You take a speed reading course to keep up with the scrolling.
- You double click your TV remote.
- You type faster than you think. You can now type over 70 WPM.
- You check your e-mail and forget you have real mail.
- You go into withdrawals during dinner.
- You rank your friends by the amount of bandwith they have.
- You message someone via IM when they are less than 20 feet away.
- The sound of the keys clicking turns you on.
- You have more browsers than friends in the real world.
- You sign off and your screen says you were on for 3 days and 45 minutes.
- You get up in the morning and go online before getting your coffee.
- The letters have come off your keyboard from excessive use.
- You order pizza online - because you can't be bothered to call.
- You enter a room and get greeted by 25 people with {{{hugs}}} and ** kisses**.
- You're on the phone and say BRB.
- You purchase a vanity car license plate with your screen name on it.
- You say "lol" instead of laughing.
- You talk on the phone with the same person you are sending an instant message to.
Floral Apology
A man stopped at a florist shop after work to pick up roses for his wife. As the clerk was putting the finishing touches on his bouquet, another man burst through the door, breathlessly requesting a dozen red roses. "I'm sorry," the clerk said. "This man just ordered our last bunch."
The desperate customer turned to the other man and begged, "May I please have those roses?"
"What happened?" the first man asked. "Did you forget your wedding anniversary?"
"It's even worse than that," the second man confided. "I crashed my wife's hard drive."

RE: 129 I know, I know, same mouse on your post. But mine is the animated one. : ) I know - I love the animated one but even though it had a transparent bg, it didn't look good on my dark red background (you know how that is - LOL - white outline all around the graphic) :)
You've posted some of the funniest pics today! Thanks so much for your part in making the thread fun today.
Hugs to th' wolfie man!

What, me computer addicted?
Hubby and I sit next to each other and he reads me things from his screen, and I read him things from mine.
We met online talking about Civil War genealogy.
IM was our method of courtship.
I am determined that before I go on another vacation, I will get a laptop.
But I'm not addicted. Not me!
What a neat post! I loved every bit of it! Thank you!

Magnificent photos! Especially love the sunrise/sunset! I tried to determine which it was by the caption below, but it didn't mention the time of day. Thanks, EMB!

D-Day Normandy by Michael DiRienzo, Brooklyn, NY, Battery A
On the morn of June 6th, the year 1944, Destination Normandy, D-Day of the war.
The waters were still, the clouds were high, All was quiet, not a bomber in the sky.
We jumped off our LST into waters knee deep, Worn out and tired, we had no sleep.
Then all of a sudden, before we knew, All Hell broke loose with the morning dew.
Shells and bombs all around, the enemy fixed and ready, All over, men moved forward, a little scared, but steady.
The battle was rugged and one bloody mess, All the heroes that were made, I know you will never guess!
Some of us were lucky, others were not, But those who have died will never be forgot.
Everything was quiet now and silently we dug in, Darkness was upon us, another day will soon begin.
Off into sleep, our minds were miles away, Thinking of home and what people will say.
We have accomplished our mission, although not yet done, There's still a long way to go before the war is won.
To all back home doing their share, Keep up the good work for the boys over here.
A job is a job and it has to be done, We are doing ours, strikers do none!
We don't ask for much from our folks in the USA, All our hearts desire is one letter a day.....
Written right after the battle
NEVER FORGET!!!
