The long-fought Senate immigration bill that opponents say grants amnesty to 10 million illegal aliens is unconstitutional and appears headed for certain demise, Senate Republicans now say. A key feature of the Senate bill is that it would make illegals pay back taxes before applying for citizenship, a requirement that supporters say will raise billions of dollars in the next decade. There's just one problem: The U.S. Constitution specifically prohibits revenue-raising legislation from originating in the Senate.

You know, we have become such a complacent society. I would bet that most of the middle class doesn't even know what the EIC is because they've never qualified for it. When the senate talks about their plans they never mention it. That is the true travesty of this bill or any bill that would legalize the illegal immigrants. Ohhhhh. Unconstitutionality hasn't stopped Congress previously. In the mid 1990's they passed the massive Telecommunications bill, knowing full well that parts were unconstitutional and anticipating that the SC would strike those provisions; the SC did not strike those unconstitutional provisions. In the early 2000's they passed the McCain-Feingold CFR, knowing full well that parts were unconstitutional and anticipating that the SC would strike those provisions; the SC did not strike those provisions.

Legislators and Presidents have a history of passing and signing unconstitutional legislation.

E.D. Hill on Fox and Friends had a good point this morning. She said they are most likely qualifying for Earned Income Tax credit at which we will end up paying them, which sucks

I didn't think of that until E.D. brought it up. The majority of these people will probably qualify for the Earned Income tax refund so instead of them paying back taxes we would be paying them back refunds. This royally sucks!

Under House rules, any member can introduce a "blue-slip resolution" to return the legislation to the Senate.

Sounds good to me. I would imagine Tom Tancredo is already on the case.

I am beginning to think that the best thing that could happen to this country would be for the RINOS to be supplanted by RATS. Without a filibusterproof majority, the remaining Republicans can obstruct until they put up more conservative candidates. In addition, SCOTUS would fill the void, like what the RATS did.

The Congress got the Sixteenth Amendment through by promising that only "the rich" would pay it and that it would never exceed 3% of anyone's income, thus proving that class warfare and lying by Congress were alive and well in 1913.

The media, socialists, communists and even most of us make this error in debating tax issues. The government will not owe them money THE TAXPAYERS will. We do it in error the others do it deliberately.

Come on people is there anything the government cannot get away with anymore? Not only is this Senate bill AMNESTY but AMNESTY on steroids where felonies were committed and the felons are given AMNESTY and the taxpayers pay to felons to become legal citizens. Is there an LSD factory somewhere cranking out LSD to be placed in city water systems? Only something like spiked water can account for the way government and citizens, are acting.

The founding fathers would not have tolerated the federal government is its present form. Why should we?

#1 Then how come the Senate bill has provisions for illegals to get paid SS via their filings under phony tax numbers all these years?

#2 These illegal alien serfs don't kick in enough to SS whether they are legal or illegal

Some stat reports say that a high percentage of illegals also do not have even a high school education. Those reports go on to say that illegals without high school educations actually cause a negative value to the economy in the amount of [negative]$13,000 each. [That is the cost of their family social services, education, health care, etc.]

Official numbers of illegals is around 11 million, although estimates by other range upward to 28 million.

If you consider that at least 75% of the illegals are probably in the 'negative value' category, that soaks the economy for between $107,250,000,000 (11 million) and $273,000,000,000 (28 million). Consider those dollars when buying that $0.99 head of lettuce, which is actually costing Americans much more in subsidies to the illegals.
