"Let's seal the border first, then we can talk. That should be the only thing the house says in negotiations with the senate."

Sealed borders, backed by renewed mass deportations.
The laws on our books already call for illegals to be deported.
We don't even need new laws for that.

Probably brought in by the illegals.

Actually, it means another wave of illegals to replace the ones "shamnestied."

The prevailing wage requirement sort of mitigates the "bargain" aspect of the illegals. If the Senate version becomes law, we will still have to import labor if we want people who will be willing to work for sustandard wages.

that's why every 20-25 years, amnesty is granted to illegals. This bill will legalize the people here, but will be an incentive for more people to come here illegally.

Vacancies will come up on the SCOTUS.

Even now there's no SOLID conservative majority there that can be counted on. It is a very tenuous, struggling majority with Anthony weak-kneed Kennedy being the swing vote. When John Paul Stevens or Ruth Bader Ginsberg toss in the towel, you want Democrats in charge of the Senate??

Also, had your "logic" been applied all along, we would not have John Roberts or Sam Alito. Of whom now you're apparently so confident you trust them to make up for a Democrat Senate.

Flawed logic alert!

And the majority are mexican nationals straight from mexico of which there are a lot of mexico's criminals in the mix. They aren't the "good people" they are portrayed to be.

YOU apparently missed GW's speech to the Chambers of Commerce yesterday where he said that illegals "...brought some crime to our communities".

I posted this response in the live thread:

Some?????

The Dark Side of Illegal Immigration: Nearly One Million Sex Crimes Committed by Illegal Immigrants in the United States Copyright © 2006, Violent Crimes Institute, www.drdsk.com By Deborah Schurman-Kauflin, Ph.D. Violent Crimes Institute, Atlanta, Georgia Introduction: After conducting a 12 month in-depth study of illegal immigrants who committed sex crimes and murders for the time period of January 1999 through April 2006 , it is clear that the U.S. public faces a dangerous threat from sex predators who cross the U.S. borders illegally. There were 1500 cases analyzed in depth. They included: serial rapes, serial murders, sexual homicides, and child...

That's right - no U.S. citizen ever makes / sells crack cocaine or any other drug - keep the stereotypes flowing.

"Can we please, please just shut down congress (both houses) for, like, ten years? PLEASE?"

Best idea I've read on here in a long time! We need an amnesty from congress!

Ya know, 23 'Pubbies voted yes - all the rest were Democrats. IIRC there were 69 "Yeahs" so that means 46 votes were Democrat.

This Immigration Bill is a DEMOCRAT victory, that was achieved with the help of RINOs and appeasers.

This whole thread, if you REALLY think the current Supreme Court is going to overturn any compromise bill based on the fact the SENATE suggested illegal aliens pay back taxes.

There's just one problem: The U.S. Constitution specifically prohibits revenue-raising legislation from originating in the Senate.

The U.S. Constitution hasn't stopped these people before; why would it stop them now?

"The Senate bill also specifies that illegals will be paid "prevailing wage" that means union wages to you novices."

The prevailing wage aspect of this law doesnt bother me. If you really think about it you would see that it really creates a disincentive to employers to hire illegals. The whole point of hiring illegals in the first place is cheap labor. If the labor isnt cheap why would you run the legal risk of hiring illegals?

Havign said that. I am totally apposed to the Senates retarded bill.

.#2 These illegal alien serfs don't kick in enough to SS whether they are legal or illegal

Like I said, I can argue with myself on either point. Yours is one of those arguments.

Struggling to find a rationale for this bill is fruitless, because it's completely insane from top to bottom.

And, how many U.S. citizens (including Catholic priests based in the U.S.) committed sex crimes in the same time period? Look, I am on the record as targeting any illegal alien guilty of serious crimes - I also have no problem with the death penalty for rape and child molestation - most illegal aliens are not child molesters and only want to make a better life for themselves and their families.

Not only is this Senate bill AMNESTY but AMNESTY on steroids where felonies were committed and the felons are given AMNESTY and the taxpayers pay to felons to become legal citizens.

You haven't been paying attention. Retraining camp for you! You apparently didn't drink enough kool-aid.

lol

[I enjoy reposting this Snow video: } We had the Clintonian parsing and the Kerryite nuancing. Jane Castain's 'translation of the rhetoric' (see A citizen's primer on immigration reform) seems counter to Tony Snow who wants 'linguistic precision'.

Snow/WH: 'It isn't amnesty. Honest. It isn't. Trust me.'

[Snow needs a good dictionary and a revisit to the 1986 Bill, which WAS called amnesty, and which contained provisions very similar to the current Senate bill.

No matter how much lipstick the WH puts on this pig, it is still a pig.]

I did say "PROBABLY". BTW do you listen to news at all? Do you read about anything happening on the Texas border??

If I had the time I would give you tons upon tons of links to articles that talk about ALL THE DRUGS COMING IN ON THE MEXICAN BORDER with Texas by mexican drug cartels!!!!
The mexican drug catels even build sophisticated underground tunnels to PUSH DRUGS upon Americans.

But alas I do not have the time guess you will have to self educate.

That is not revenue raising legislation, it is legislation demanding enforcement of existing laws.

Why is it that the left and their allies keep telling us that food will cost more if we end illegal immigration but they keep enacting these worthless dairy compacts which keeps a gallon of milk above $3?? Of course, I know the answer. A hatred of real capitalism. If the dairy compact were to end, competition would bring the price down almost immediately and if illegal immigration stopped, we might come up with a machine that picks lettuce, which would lower its price.

No, the leftits love their unions, and their guilds, and their subsidies, and their taxes. They care nothing about the cost of production.
