WASHINGTON - Military investigators piecing together what happened in the Iraqi town of Al-Hadithah on Nov. 19, 2005 -- when Marines allegedly killed two dozen civilians -- have access to video shot by a pilotless aircraft that was circling overhead for at least part of that day, military defense attorneys familiar with the case said in interviews.
It is unclear whether the video obtained from that day's flight captured the violence, said the attorneys, who have consulted with Marines who were there. One attorney said investigators have reviewed surveillance footage taken hours after the shootings, which showed the Marines returning to the town to remove the bodies of the Iraqis.
Monday, Marine Gen. Peter Pace, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said charges will be issued if the evidence merits it. For now, ``it would be premature for me to judge'' the outcome of the two U.S. military investigations, Pace said on CBS's ``The Early Show.''

Hey Velvetta! Long time no talk -- hope you are well... I followed your link to the Reuters Alert story and noticed something very, very interesting...
At the bottom of the story right after they list the dead there are pictures showing about 7-8 dead children on a blanket. Seeing as these pictures are on this page one might assume that these must be pictures of the ones who died in Haditha. HOWEVER, if one reads the caption one finds that these children were killed when a boat overturned and it is not in anyway related to the story about the marines.
I'm not automatically suggesting that Reuters listed these pictures purposely with this story (they are listed in a preview box titled "Latest pictures") but it is an awful coincidence showing dead iraqi children under this story. And, seeing as these "latest" pictures at the bottom don't update these pictures will be on this page as long as the story is... Hopefully people reading the article at this site will read the caption, but I think Reuters knows as well as I that many don't/won't and will assume that these are pictures related to the article -- I did at first glance.
You know, with all the muck around this story one begins to wonder just who is running the show over in the media... I for one just hope justice is served no matter where the chips fall. As for Murtha -- it's unbelievable that he forgets we are in the US where you are INNOCENT until PROVEN GUILTY. I guess that's only until it serves to promote your agenda.
Thanks much for your links... (o:
Sleep well.
Why should anyone give Roto Reuters the benefit of the doubt. They are Communist Propagandists and not very good ones at that.
Pray for W and Our Troops
Shove the traitor crap.
I thought I made it clear that they did shoot up the Iraqi families. The Marines agree that they did. They haven't explained why. They have said that their investigation will disclose the details and why.
As far as anything the Iraqis said, I've ignored it.
lol... stowage is always a manner.
They did it because the allegation runs top of fold on page one, while retractions run on B22.
Nicely said.
The simple answer is because they can.
The reason they would want to are for their political reasons and because if they fire flames more for readers first, they feel they could sell more papers.
The news business is profit before honor, never forget that.
Please FReepmail me if you want on or off my miscellaneous ping list.
Glad someone caught that.
All I can find is that Hunter disagrees with his "in cold blood" statement. John Kline(R,MN) 100% ACU rating, 25 year USMC vet, son in Iraq, who got the same breifing said it "is going to be an ugly story".
Because it's the media.
I hope this whole thing blows up in their faces. Murtha's, too.
So that being said, I won't draw a "final" conclusion until someone's in jail or shot for treason. I think it should be the latter.
"there damn well better be some big-assed apologies given not only from Murtha, but from Time Warner Corporation, owner of Time Magazine. If I was involved in this, and exonorated, I'd sue the living snot out of these scalewags for defamation of character, character assasination, and causing harm to my reputation on purpose!"
It is time that parents, siblings, cousins, aunts/uncles, and grandparents of our brave warriors do exactly what you have noted. Sue the hell out of these lying and spinning left wing agenda pushers in civil courts. Run the suits against the top of the Time Warner Ladder down to the individual lying/spinning pseudo journalists.
See, that's the problem here. People think if Murtha's charges are true, then "Coop will be wrong." If they're false, then "Coop will be right/vindicated."
This isn't about me. It's about the Marines and all servicemembers risking life and limb for us. They are entitled to the same (more, if you ask me!) rights as alleged murderers and pedophiles, accused robbers, etc.
Whether the charges are 100% true or 100% false, Jack Murtha is still scum. And these Marines deserve the presumption of innocence built into our legal system that they defend.
Okay, so we're 12 years old. At least this 12-year old accuses folks (and pings them!) that are able to defend themselves.
Keep on whinin', fellow pre teen!
[sob] Oh, you're SUCH the victim! This is ALL ABOUT poor lugsoul and his "objective" discussion of a national news story. Tito, hand me a tissue!
Who did I accuse? Quote me accusing anyone, since that is your claim.
What will be your view of this incident IF the general facts as alleged in press reports are borne out by the investigation?
