O.K. Freepers, heres the list of Pubbies who voted with the Dems Thursday to give Social Security benefits to Illegal Aliens.
Brownback (KS)
Chafee (RI)
DeWine (OH)
Graham (SC)
Hagel (NE)
Lugar (IN)
Martinez (FL)
McCain (AZ)
Specter (PA)
Stevens (AK)
Voinovich (OH)
I must admit that I was shocked by Brownbacks and Lugars votes.
yes this is true your taxes are kept track of on an individual basis. However, It depends on how you look at it whether or not you have "benefits" accrued or simply a "promise to pay." Any funds that illegals have paid under phoney SS numbers aren't really sitting around waiting to be paid, but simply represent future claims that probably won't be made. The money ha already been spent.
if however we are referring to the overall bill being debated/ammended in the senate.. I think it is a little too soon to pass judgement on what the final product will be after the house/senate conference.... remember we got to get a product to conference FIRST...then we can reconcile the differences between the house/senate....
Try asking nodems as he is the one who posted it. I simply assumed it to be true.
.....The money ha already been spent.....
Money is all numbers on a page, electrical bits that get zapped from ledger to ledger.
I am really tired of FReepers suggesting that a simple majority in the US Senate means we should be able to get a "conservative agenda" passed... this shows ignorance of the way things work in the US Senate....
BOTTOM LINE.... 60 in 06' !!!
I have both publicly and privately.. no response yet
I don't agree. Bookeeping is moving numbers on a page, but money spent is not on the right page anymore. The money that we all pay into SS is spent (ie numbers on someone else's page) as soon as we give it to the government, and what Kongress leaves us with is an iou.
If the illegals never make the claim against their phoney ss accts, then there really isn't any money sitting there. It's just a matter of IOUs that aren't going to get paid.
Makes it easy when they call me on phone to give money!
John McCain was on "Fox News Sunday". I watched the program and Chris Wallace asked him about his and 11 other GOP votes to give SS benefits to Illegal Aliens. He said, they paid the money in, they should get it. (Neither here nor there.)
The next day I read where someone posted the entire roll call vote here on Free Republic. I merely took the names of the 11 Pubbies off of that list and made a vanity post. SEE POST # 6 by So Cal Rocket on the following thread:

Martinez - Bush's boy in FL
HOW MANY of these where part of the supreme court senate McCain Mutiny?
It'll probably be longer, here in SC people tend to stick with the incumbents regardless of how crappy they are.
Sorry to hear about that. I really am. That man just can't represent the majority of South Carolinians' views.
Trust me, he doesn't. It's just a case of a politician saying what he knows people want to hear in order to get elected.
I am pretty moderate on the immigration stuff, but I have to say, I am strongly opposed to giving social security to illegals.
Frankly, Brownback has really lost my support here.
What I am really interested in is the ACTUAL ammendemnt/roll call vote.. so I can research the debate and the vote itself..

I have not found an ammendment titled "Give Social Security to Illegals" ...

Brownback???
Please FReepmail me if you want on or off my miscellaneous ping list.
aparently this is the VOTE that is being discussed here.. From what I see this is not a vote to grant social security to illegals.... I am in no way trying to defend and RINOS that do not deserve defending.. but I think everyone should consider the possibility that this was defeated as part of a compromise which could have stopped the bill from getting to conference.. it is possible that this could be brought up again in conference assuming it is a provision in the HOUSE bill which I believe it is...

All it takes for evil to triumph is for Republicans to befriend, give in to, and act like, Democrats.
