NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Stressed Miami drivers speed, tailgate and cut off other drivers so frequently that it has earned the city the title of worst road rage in a survey released Tuesday.
Norwalk, Conn.-based AutoVantage, an automobile membership club offering travel services and roadside assistance, also listed Phoenix, New York, Los Angeles and Boston among the top five cities for rude driving in its first "In the Driver's Seat Road Rage Survey."
"The advent of road rage is part of every day life," said Todd Smith, director of corporate communications for AutoVantage's parent company, Affinion Group, which has offices in Nashville. "It's just a fact of life."
On the other side of the spectrum, Minneapolis, Nashville, St. Louis, Seattle and Atlanta rated as the cities with the most courteous drivers who were less likely to change lanes without signaling or swear at other motorists.

Whoever put Atlanta in the nice drivers category, did NOT drive here, period. When someone lets you in at a merge they invariably have out of state tags.
Atlanta!?!?!? Most courteous!?!?!?
That's a laugh...
It's not really fair to classify Seattle drivers as polite because, in reality, on the freeway you're actually parked in the grid lock
LoL!
True enough. Have you driven in Quito lately, or some of the mountainous back-roads?
((((((((shudder))))))))
Agreed. It helps me to uhhh... be a better defensive driver. ;)
Cause Detroit drivers are fast, assertive but for the most part pretty considerate. We know how to DRIVE! We don't just sit down and use the steering wheel as an armrest.
Signs ought to say "Speed Limit 55 Unless You're From Minnesota" - at least that's how Minnesotans interpret them when they drive the rural roads of Wisconsin.
I don't see Pittsburgh on the list, but...be aware it's very risky to drive around these parts. And Gawd help you if you're a pedestrian.
Some years after it was introduced elsewhere, Pittsburgh adopted the concept of right turns on red. Almost immediately, signs went up at various intersections saying, "No Turn on Red." Drivers just couldn't adapt to the notion that you are supposed to STOP, look around, watch out for pedestrians, and then when it's clear, make your turn.
Oh and most drivers here believe the right turn can be made from anywhere, even from three lanes over to the left.
It's even better if you paint the doors white.
The majority of Phoenix drivers are ex-LA drivers, ex-Chicago drivers, ex-Minnesota drivers, etc.
A friend of mine bought a used Crown Victoria police car for about $2000 and re-installed the back seat cage and colored lights in the grill. We pulled up to Jiffy Lube for an oil change and two of the Mexican guys working there made a break for it, hopping a fence and sprinting out of sight. Hilarious.
How about the rankings for the lame driver list (which is also quite often one in the same as the FOB driver list!). The SF Metro would have to top that list!
It has been a few years since I drove in Atlanta, but I remember that as an OK place to drive. Boston was loony tunes, Columbus (Georgia) was FAST, Fayetteville was OK as long as you watched out for the Korean women, DC was a pain in the keister and I must admit I never had the guts to try New York.
Baltimore drivers are just the worst I ever encountered at not being aware of what is around them - they will cut you off, turn in front of you or whatever because they did not see you.
The survey found that half of the drivers in Miami will have the experience of having a parking place stolen from them.
Here's someone who knows a little about "parking space rage" in Florida......
MD drivers are especially stupid if there is the slightest hint of snow.
Kwazy Kager Ping
Hard to believe that New Mexicans didn't take first place.

Same here in Pittsburgh. It's not like snow is a once every 10 years occurrence. One snowflake and everyone panics. Drivers are never prepared. You would think that by, say, November, drivers around here would be ready with snow tires or whatever. Nope. First snowfall and every garage is packed with people trying to get their new tires put on.
And my other peeve -- slowing down or actually stopping before entering a tunnel. True Pittsburghers feel they have to do this every time they approach a tunnel. I don't know what they're afraid of. We've had so many rear end collisions from some yokel coming to a sudden dead stop right in front of a tunnel.
