Miami rated tops on rude drivers list; Minneapolis rated nicest

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Stressed Miami drivers speed, tailgate and cut off other drivers so frequently that it has earned the city the title of worst road rage in a survey released Tuesday.

Norwalk, Conn.-based AutoVantage, an automobile membership club offering travel services and roadside assistance, also listed Phoenix, New York, Los Angeles and Boston among the top five cities for rude driving in its first "In the Driver's Seat Road Rage Survey."

"The advent of road rage is part of every day life," said Todd Smith, director of corporate communications for AutoVantage's parent company, Affinion Group, which has offices in Nashville. "It's just a fact of life."

On the other side of the spectrum, Minneapolis, Nashville, St. Louis, Seattle and Atlanta rated as the cities with the most courteous drivers who were less likely to change lanes without signaling or swear at other motorists.

Tailgating and cutting people off is a way of life down here. And signaling is a sign of weakness.

Hard to believe that Bostonians didn't take first place.

Utah drivers should rank highly on the rudeness scale.

Nashville's driving seems a lot less rude than when I first came here. Nashville's people have always been friendly in person.

But Nashville should when the award for the stupidest implementations of road work. Nashville will work on 4 or 5 roads in the same area at the same time, effectively creating bottlenecks in all directions.

Maybe all of those Liberals in Minneapolis just can't get up enough speed in their Prius' and Civics to be aggressive

Driving in Miami is heaven compared to much of NYC.

Although I grew up in Miami, I have been away for 25 years.

Living in the Pacific Northwest where liberals are, you must admit, very polite to each other, I signal cars to merge in front of me, I stop at crosswalks, etc.

I was exibiting such strange behavior while visiting Miami when my sister sneered at me, "You're driving like a tourist!"

Boston should be #1.

But Patrick Kennedy moved to Rhode Island and removed half of their scrap metal inventory replenishment system.

Maybe that's cause Liberals never have to worry about getting to work.

The series where they blocked traffic, went the speed limit on the freeway in the left lane, etc.? I saw bits of it not the whole thing but I am sure you could get some interesting video from any state if you drove around like that.

Got a friend who lives in Boca. He's the world's worst, rudest, most insane driver I know. He was also that way in NY, CA and Mass. You don't want to ride with him.

Nashville drivers are TOO nice in my opinion. You get 4 Belle Meade ladies at a 4-way stop and it may take a week for one of them to decide to go, because they would all be horrified to appear pushy or aggressive.
