I searched but did not see a thread already open for tonights speech. I think this is the most important speech the President will probably make for the remainder of his term.

This could turn into a whack-a-troll thread. All immigration trolls that would like to participate should post here. It'll be interesting to see if we mods can whack the trolls faster than they can sign up new accounts.

I wish there was something--anything--about tonight's speech that I could point to as real progress and a change in course to stop the invasion of illegal aliens into the United States.

Do you not agree that we have 3 branches of govt? judicial, legislative and executive? do you not agree this is more involved that a massive deportation of over 11 million? how exactly do you propose deporting over 11 million illegals?

My guess is that democrats are not going support Amnesty untill after the election. Then they will go full tilt for it. They are evil that way.

I'll disagree with you there. The results of the plan outlined in the speech will be a complete and total disaster. But, the speech itself was well crafted and it is bound to fool a large number of people into buying into President Bush's plan. He changed the tone of what he said and repackaged a few things. It was calculated to finesse his amnesty scheme and it may be successful in doing just that.
