Texas is my "home" I am a Texan forever...

It is too expensive ..I got a good buy on a Condo in Goleta in a great condo area and when I sold it and bought a house again in Texas, I paid cash . I had to take my one time only tax exemption because I paid so much less here than I sold the Condo for.

Normal is on a sliding scale.

Sometimes less sometimes more.

How soon does the town become impassable? Do you try to do any Derby activities?

It's been an eye night.

Gasoline, nail polish, the dogs medicine, detergent, and about 4 other things I can't recall.

It must have been nice while it lasted. The weather there along the California coast is so perfect....most of the time.

There's always another year.
Just a tease from St David only 30 miles away

Well,... you can always save them off, enlarge them, and print them and dream.

Actually Derby day traffic is like a ghost town.

Everybody is either at the track or having a Derby Party.

Malls are empty, restaurants are empty till after the race and then the traffic jam begins.

When I worked 3-11 all the other activities were a nightmare.

Parade went right up the street in front of the hospital and I couldn't get to work.

Now my office looks right out over the Parade route.

Just open the window and listen to the bands. Or watch from the window as long as the phones aren't busy.

When I worked nights, I'd watch the balloon race as they lifted off from my back yard. They all flew right over my house. Didn't have to contend with traffic and didn't miss a thing.

Never tried the Steam boat race.

Various events tie the town up tightly. The big fireworks show, Thunder over Louisville, shut down the expressways, shuts down the downtown. Had a grand day for it and the crowds were 800,000 strong.

No other single event can hold that many. We have a couple of really huge parks on the water front on both sides of the river. They were packed and the ball park to capacity.

Most of the events are free.

Santa Barbara.....it is beautiful there, but SO EXPENSIVE!!! I came to Alaska from 90 miles north of there, Arroyo Grande....I go there for vacation every Thanksgiving. All my posts for two weeks will be from there. When I lived there, I would drive down to Rancho Cucamonga once a month, driving through downtown Santa Barbara and always getting stuck at the traffic lights, following the coast....what a beautiful drive.

We call it the wrinkle in the universe.

If you get a theme started , it follows you all day.
