All my life, I believed in Republican values -- individual responsibility and limited government. Then it happened; I found myself with a small child, unemployed and disabled. I turned to my church, and after years of regular tithes, suddenly I just wasn't their problem. My Republican friends? I was now a pariah to them.
My only relief was to turn to government assistance for housing, food, and other needs and I was able to survive with dignity.
So chalk me up as one who no longer drinks the GOP koolaid.
if the kid is five years old, don't worry, by liberal law and morality you still have two years left to abort the child.
oh good!! a Sunday morning troll Opus, short format
...[ a much needed chuckle **#!]
Got a family?
You mean the Church of Scientology isn't helping out. I'll have my assistant call Tom Cruise and he'll get back to you. Meanwhile, Hail Xenu!!!
Move to New Orleans. You'll feel right at home.
Ah, the dignity of welfare.
sorry, meant for sarah f.
What the hell are you talking about?
Not only that, if she tells her story on DU, I'm sure that, unlike her fellow Churchmen, the lefties will freely open their wallets and send her money. Oops, that's not the way they work. Instead, they would open my wallet and send her money.
What's sad about this is there is an off chance she is telling the truth. All the scamsters have hardened us to assume everyone with a story like this is just another scamster.
Some people do find themselves down on their luck--she could have gone thru a recent divorce and kept the child and lost her right arm in a car accident. Stuff happens. And I would hope that her family and the people in her Church would have helped her thru the hard times--I once went on food stamps many years ago for about six months to eat because I was too proud to admit to my family that I had messed up.
But Sara, if you are bothering to read this, becoming a permanent ward of the State is no way out of your dilemma. I don't know any Republicans who begrudge you a temporary helping hard--remember, the current welfare system is the reformed welfare system designed by, shock of shocks, Newt Gingrich and the Republicans in the 1990's and you seem to think it has served you well.
The older system, designed by dems, was designed to get people hooked on welfare and keep them there for life--that way, they would be dems for life. With that deal with the devil, the dems created America's first underclass since the days of slavery. Don't get hooked.
You said -- "All my life, I believed in Republican values -- individual responsibility and limited government. Then it happened; I found myself with a small child, unemployed and disabled. I would like to hear more about this -- as you describe it. HOWEVER, this has the signs of a "hit and run" post.
I was looking for your follow-up comments -- but I find none. Are you just spouting off and mad about things? I'm not sure. You're not talking.
Whatever your problems are (and since you mention that you go to church) -- I would first depend upon God. He's the source of all your needs in this life. It's not church, it's not friends, it's not the GOP, it's not government programs.
Sure, these are secondary and are valuable and real, in this life, but God is primary and you need to seek out God, first -- in all this. See what the Bible has to say -- not just "church" and the people there. God says to draw near to Him and He will draw near to you.
BUT, I may be just speaking to a "hit and run" posting and may never hear another thing from you. And if that's the case, then everyone here will attribute this posting to just a troll and to something that was made up and never real in the first place. If it's real, you'll need to be talking. If this is not real, then we'll probably never hear from you again.

LOL- classic!
No there isn't.
Just a quick word of advise dear, keep your legs together.
Apology accepted.
As another poster observed, they'd probably just send her a list of 'phone numbers for government agencies.
