All my life, I believed in Republican values -- individual responsibility and limited government. Then it happened; I found myself with a small child, unemployed and disabled. I turned to my church, and after years of regular tithes, suddenly I just wasn't their problem. My Republican friends? I was now a pariah to them.

My only relief was to turn to government assistance for housing, food, and other needs and I was able to survive with dignity.

So chalk me up as one who no longer drinks the GOP koolaid.

I this story is true I feel bad for this person's circumstances but they obviously never really knew what it meant to be a Republican in the first place.

Me either.. but however Givernment is good for some, Givernment rots the soul of others.. Multiplied thousands of people on givernment handouts are parasites.. Including many contractors, and Unions.. Giving up Koolaid from one source means you're drinking Koolaid from another source.. What Koolaid are you drinking, Now?..

I am sorry you hit a bump in the road. I was always taught to get up brush myself off and charge on. I guess i was raised differently. There were times in my life the only thing between me and hunger was my ability to fish.
So you were ignored by your church. Find a new one and don't bother to Tithe. It not only is a burden on you but the church comes to expect it. instead give what you can when they pass the plate.
On your child issues. Hmmm I hope your child brings you love and joy. Remember to cherish and nurture him or her. Where is the father?
So you had to go on the public dole ... so what. Use it and get back on your feet. There are lots of jobs that you can work even if you are disabled. Secretary is one. There are tons of others. The thing is to get back up and dust yourself off. Don't blame someone else for your misfortune. It does nothing but limit your options. Of course you could just be a troll but I will take what you say at face value. So your "friends" where republicans? Why should that include all republican? Did you come here asking for help? No. Did you come here asking advice? No. Did you come here asking for a job? No. You came here to bitch and moan about your situation. Get real sister. Get off your butt, look at what you can do, asses your talents and abilities then go out there and use them. Is it possible that you don't have any? Is it possible that you made it through high school and can't do anything useful? If so thank the liberal democrats for me will you? Because you are the product of their regime.

And truly- if you "found yourself" with a small child, please contact the AP and/or the Vatican. Miracles are in high demand.

Interestingly, when I was a single mother my friends would offer two kinds of help: the libs would give me lists of phone #'s for government agencies- the conservatives would give me names of people who were hiring people with my skills.

Listen up missy- you're deluding yourself. By the time you figure that out- your child will have learned important life lessons by watching you and seeing the theme of victimhood as a way of life.

I didn't assume anything. If he/she is lying, there is no basis for a discussion whatsoever. If what he/she is saying really happened, it's patently ridiculous to be blaming the people that she claims are responsible.

Sorry to hear your small child is unemployed. Did you find him at the umemployment office? Maybe you should return him as he may be someone else's child and not yours. Maybe he is indeed employed and his co-workers miss him and are worried. Did he come with any tools? Set of wrenches? Plumbing equipment? McDonald's hat?

If I were you, I'd run an ad: "Found. Small unemployed child holding a 10 mm wrench (or whatever he was carrying). Eats little. Answers to name 'Small unemployed child.' "

As to your pariah problem in church, try wearing a more conservative dress at services rather than a Che T-shirt with a hammer and sickle armband.

Republicans are not anti-government assistance. You should read up on Clarence Thomas's life story. There was a time when his family was down and out (due to illness) and they turned for some time to public assistance. But they did not languish in it--they pulled themselves up and became self sufficient.
