Ah hah! Now I see the difference - little visual pun there.

I'm farsighted - you said you have to take them off to do close artwork...meaning you CAN see up close. Maybe THAT's the reason I didn't like them, and you did...the nearsight/farsight difference.

The first time I tried to get contacts, the doctor gave me the hard lenses. I almost passed out trying to put those things in. I have soft lenses and they work great for me. My mom couldn't stand them though. I have a self esteem issue. Glasses made me uncomfortable.

Completely off topic, but I seem to recall there are a few fans of the Animaniacs here. Guess what, Volume 1 of the Warner Bros & their Warner sister Dot as well as Pinky and the Brain are scheduled to hit shelves in June.

Animaniacs DVD

Narf!

"I see these polls...and wonder if freepers are the only "fans" of George left??

Of course, that is a smaller percentage now than ever before, also....sigh."

JUST REMEMBER:

1.) Job approval ratings correlate with the public's perception of the economy (i.e., gas prices) NOT the public's perception of the President!

2.) 62,000,000 people voted for President Bush in 2004 . . . Today, most pollsters indicate that 70%-80% of Republicans/Republican-leaning Independents approve of the President's job performance and 90% approve of the President as a person.

Bottomline:
over 43,000,000 people approve of the President's job performance
over 55,000,000 people approve of the President as a person

. . . These numbers dwarf the audiences of Rush, Hannity, Savage, Ingraham COMBINED! . . . I think we're in pretty good company!!

If you're concerned about the Fox Poll, the following is all you need to know:

The FOXNEWS/OPINION DYNAMICS poll 'pushed' the President's approval to 'a new low' by increasing the spread between Democrats and Republicans.

Today's poll:
40% Democrats
32% Republicans
-8 (advantage Democrats)

Last poll (4/5/06)
39% Democrats
34% Republicans
-5 (advantage Democrats)

Surprise, surprise: Opinion Dynamics oversamples Democrats by an additional 3 points over the last poll and, just like magic, the President's JA rating falls by an additional 3 points!

FYI: OPINION DYNAMICS was the LEAST ACCURATE pollster for the 2004 election, calling the election for Kerry and missing the margin by almost 6 points -- not even Zogby did as poorly!! Conversely, RASMUSSEN was among the MOST ACCURATE pollsters for the 2004 elections . . . 'nuf said!

You probably will when you get over 40 most people normally need either bi or vari at about that age due to muscles of the eyes not reacting as quickly as they used to.

Snugs, my 2 cents about the glasses [I have bifocals and may be near to needing trifocals] is that they are a big hassle and don't work well.
My reading lens is on the bottom, and I can't see the computer screen without tipping my neck way back. I have a pair of bifocals that I wear most of the time, but I just got a pair of single vision this year for the computer. And I'm getting a single vision pair of sunglasses for driving.

I also have lots of trouble walking down steps, and I can't do hiking trails because of the vision problem. The reading lens on the bottom does not help in times like that. I end up having to walk very carefully, bend my head down, take elevators when possible. It is the pits.

The special purpose single vision work much better, and the bifocals for general all around use.
I know people who have the line free graduated lenses and they have as much trouble as I do with walking down steps.

Yes you did and yes he does!!! . . . It's about time we both get more 'FACE' time with the President -- what do you think?!

I must admit I am not looking forward to it and have the feeling they will be going back after 30 days and being exchanged for single vision and separate reading pair.

The opthamigist said I was lucky to have got to nearly 46 without having to have different type of glasses.

Okay, everybody I have to go and watch some TV. My throat thing is now a nose and throat thing, and I've got to chill out on the couch with one chilled adult beverage ;-) right now.

Tah tah - thanks GretchenM, snugs, and all for another FABulous night on the Dose!

Gee, I like Nerds! My DH has a bachelors degree in Physics and a Masters in Electrical Engineering. My son has a bachelors degree in Computer Science and is currently in law school specializing in patent law.

They are both very conservative, as are most of the people that work with my DH. So, Nerds? Maybe, but I wouldn't trade 'em for the world!

Don't remind me that I'm gonna get old someday! :P I'm still 22. I'm just gonna pretend (for now) that I'm gonna be 22 forever. I have enough problems as it is now.

I can see clearly to about 12 inches in front of me then the blur starts. I had an eye accident when I was nine, so I don't use my right eye for much except periphral vision, and in fact I see 2 images, but block out one. Kind of weird, but I got used to it. As a result I have no depth perception. You should see me try to parallel park my car LOL, its pretty entertaining!
