Thank you. We do not do much hand drafting anymore but the sheets we used to draw on were 32" deep so the distance from the eye to the paper at the bottom edge was much less than to the top edge. But even now, using computer assisted design (CAD) you have to continually switch fom looking at the monitor to several large reference drawings.

You get used to them rather quickly I think. My wife wore them for many years and had no problems.

I have a lot of astigmatism and the optometrist told me they don't work well with people that need significant amounts of astigmatism correction.

Tabby my youngest daughter wears progressives when she is not wearing contacts. Tabster has eyes like her mother. She is mildly near sighted. My oldest daughter is "blessed" with my eyes and can't wear them.

LOVE the first photo . . . Everyone is always sooooooooooo happy when they manage to get near our CHARISMATIC president!!

JUST READ WHAT THESE THREE NEW 'BUSH BABES' HAD TO SAY ABOUT THEIR INTERACTION WITH OUR PRESIDENT DURING HIS VISIT TO TUSKEGEE YESTERDAY:

Tuskegee veterinary student Barbie Gadsden, 26, said she held the "media view" of Bush, the low approval ratings and all, until she was cheek-to-cheek with the commander-in-chief.

She was one of five vet students who nudged up to the president, and she chided the leader of the free world for not mentioning the school's vet school while complimenting Tuskegee in his speech.

She and her friends squeezed in some quick photos, when Gadsden found herself pressed into the right side of the president's face. Bush grinned like an easy-going uncle, whispering to Gadsden that he "felt bad" he hadn't mentioned the vet school.

So, what does presidential skin feel like?

"It's very soft, very velvety - like aromatherapy skin," said Gadsden.

Her friend Cindy Brown touched the president's hand and issued a stamp of approval.

"It's the softest skin. He must get a manicure," Brown said.

For many at Wednesday's event, it was their first time to share air with a president. Bush is at least the fifth sitting president to visit Tuskegee University, joining the ranks of Presidents Ronald Reagan, Franklin Roosevelt, William Howard Taft and William McKinley.

Tuskegee student Shawn Paynemiller, who declined to comment on Bush's politics, was thrilled to be at a presidential appearance, amongst the sweep of the Secret Service agents and the parade of the press pool.

"I'm part of history. I can tell my grandchildren," said Paynemiller

the reason why i love it here is because everyone understands me.
i don't have to explain myself everytime something political is brought up. i don't get the (why in the world would she support that guy!) look.

okay...i feel better lol. i just feel like i'm the only one who supports this country and the president.

hope everyone is doing well.

ps....does anyone know where or who takes those stupid polls on how the president is doing? because i believe there is far more than 33% of people in this country supporting Mr. Dubya.

My friend found that on the computer it was a problem because of the area of focus not being the full width of the screen.

What you describe with the drawings etc I see all the time in our DO with what we call A0 drawings being over the desk whilst they work on the CAD drawings on the computers. They have 2 screens on their computers so they can either look at 2 different drawings or zoom into the same drawing on one screen but get overview of it on the other screen.

I know EXACTLY what you mean. I'm so sick of that look. I don't know who does the polls but I think they're really useless people.

I had them years and years ago, and found that I, too, had to keep turning my head from side to side to read. I was doing a lot of research at the time, and needed to be able to scan a line quickly. I was able to return them, and did. But they're still selling them here, so some people must like them.

Sounds as if that is one of the problems then with my friend because he has a mild astigmatism.

So along with his engineer ultra critical standpoint and above problem I would think this is why he had so many problems as there are other engineers at our company who wear them who say whilst they are not perfect they can learn to use them for work.

Fortunately I get along just fine using cheap dime store glasses. For the first thirty years of drafting, I did not even need any glasses at all.

A puzzle on a 9 x 9 square grid, like a crossword, where you place 9 sets of numbers 1 to 9 in a proper order. It is addictive, so don't start if you are not into it yet, and you have more respect for your spare time than I have for mine!

I have progressives. But I also have a special pair of glasses just for use when I'm on a computer, which is many hours a day.

I got the cheapest frames and lens I could find. They are wonderful. My neck used to cramp as I held my head just so to look at the monitor.
