How do you figure out whether a foam firefighting system in an air force hangar is set up correctly and works? Well you turn it on for a few seconds, to make sure it's got pressure and everything. First you set up a scaffolding so you can record the event and show the flow coming out of all nozzles.
And then you let 'er rip. After 15 seconds you can see foam is covering all areas it has to, so the test is successful. Shut 'er off.
Uh, guys? Shut 'er off?
Aw crap. Whatever was meant to shut off the system after 15 seconds, did NOT shut it off and the foam continued to flow. After a few minutes...
The foam is a story high and still flowing!
Uh, Joe? you can climb the scaffolding ladder now...
Two stories high.
This is the guy standing on top of the scaffolding.
So they just let it go.

Wonder what the total cost, including clean up, was and why no one was fired?

They left out the picture of the pickup truck that was parked nearby with it's windows down. I was full of foam...

I saw a foam system like this at a dance club on some island (on TV). At a certain time they turn on the foam generators until it's about neck deep.
Then you have a bunch of wet, soapy, drunken yoots. No telling what might go on or come off under the foam...

A little aqueous film forming foam feau paux?
To: ncountylee
It's only soap. The cost of the foam is minimal, and the contractor most likely had to eat any cleanup cost.
How do you know nobody was fired?

Thanks for the ping, Kay. I had already seen the thread, and was still rolling on the floor.
I'll be making some calls tomorrow, to get the details.

Well, y'know, the turny-on thingie and the turny-off thingie had to come from the lowest bidder...
If you think it was bad coming from the lowest bidder, just imagine a thingie made by a government worker.

Hi, freepatriot:
The A-Triple F systems we have on the east (Reserve) side Hangars and Fuel Cell at Andrews AFB malfunction and spew about three times a year.
Though nowhere near as badly as Ellsworth AFB.
The foam is very slippery and stinks to High Heaven, btw.
Jack.
