I'm not trying to be argumentative because I am not sure yet how I feel about illegal immigration.

But there is absolutely no way that American's aren't already paying higher taxes for the states that provide free instate tuition to illegals, free hospital care, etc.

Then add a study I saw last week but didn't bookmark and can't link to the number of illegals on death row (it was a shockingly high number) and the cost of their care for the 15-20 years it takes to get through the appeals process, and we're already looking at astronomically high taxes.

As well, we have a legal immigration process by which we let the same types of agriculture workers in that you are talking about. They work for cheap as well; maybe not as cheaply as illegal immigrants, but cheap nonetheless.

Most Americans, I think, would willingly pay more for produce if it meant their streets were safer and there wasn't an over $10 billion pricetag at the federal level alone for getting cheap lettuce.

And if we're going to provide free tuition for anyone in this country, why isn't it for the children whose parents have been killed in the war? Their parents have given more to this country than anyone, and have paid into the system, instead of taking out of it.

What's good for the nation is LEGAL immigration, but I don't know if the panel brought it up or agreed on that. But Peter King during his FNC interview discussed it.

10,000 Jack Bauer's could not plug the border without the will of the government behind them. This will never happen, because politicians like their jobs, and you and I like our cheap strawberries.

I just heard that interview on c-span radio, I thought Boehner handled himself very well against one biased question by stuffy after another.

I am sure that is very true it is like people in my area saying that the wild rabbits look cute whereas the farmers will shoot them the minute they pop their heads up.

The most I can boost locally is a field of sheep about 2 minutes walk from my house.

Troops are defending their country. The people who built this country had something wonderful in the end.

Picking lettuce in 100 plus degrees is not satisfying or rewarding.

Given the level of welfare payments it's unlikely we will see any Americans rushing to the fields to do that backbreaking work in such heat.

Thank you very much. That makes perfect sense and goes a long way to convincing me that the conspiracy theories are simply the result of incomplete information or willfull ignorance.

This type of stuff, particularly on this Sunday thread each week, is why I love FR. You can't get much better than first hand information and we get that regularly.

Exactly-give ICE a larger mandate, field offices in Del Rio, TX, El Paso, TX, Nogales, AZ and Mexicali, CA. Arm them, and use predator drones. Also treat these humanitarian boobs who trespass on ranchers' property, by leaving maps, water, and rides, as felons. Where will get the money? By not sending Egypt 2 billion a year, and allowing whackjobs like McKinney to have a million dollar budget..

Thank you very much Peach.

I just posted a new translation from a 1997 document where there are orders to all Iraqi intelligence departments to remove anything related to WMD from their computers. This is yet another document that shows how Saddam Regime was doing all their efforts to hide their WMD programs or any information relate to it from the UN inspectors, a clear sign that this regime never really comply and they always wanted to keep their WMD programs and production.

Rent the DVD, History of Violence....the guy on there may not be able to plug the border either, but rest assured he would make them very unhappy that they got over it.

Don't let the kids watch it but I just loved seeing the really bad guys pay up.

No, you are wrong. In fact, the money that immigrants send home to their countries of origin should be something you appreciate, because it is the single reason why you don't see 10 times the amount of illegal immigration that you see today.

oh- so it is OUR fault people come here illegally? It is up to THEM to fix THEIR GOV'T AND THEIR ECONOMY! NOT OUR JOB!!!!

You are not considering the economic costs associated with the taxation of those not earning a minimum wage. You don't want those wages taxed because they are not worth the expense of regulation, investigation and collection.

so you are for people working under the table? Plus you fail to address that these jobs- once the business owners don't have illegals to exploit with klow wages, will have to pay decent wages.....I am against business owners who conduct business LEGALLY carrying the burden of supporting medicaid, social INsecurity, etc....It is ridiculous to award illegal business practices....

I realize that, but what you don't understand is that your lack of understanding of the underlying economic facts are what allow politicians to use you as pons for their reelection benefit.

LOL! The politicos are not using me...I have had the rude awakening that conservatives are abused the same way blacks are.. just by two different parties....maybe you missed my part about PINK SLIPS FOR ALL OF THEM?

and what do you suppose we do for the kids abandoned by dead beat daddy? the mothers that cook every meal- do all the laundry- grocery shopping, doctors appointments, miss work and can't hold a job because no one can hire and depend on a single mother...her kids get sick, child care can be undependable...they drive crappy cars (undependable transportation)....to heck with them.?...how much does it help our economy when these kids are bound to repeat the cycle instead of having the opportunity to be contributing members of society...?

btw- thank you for debating without vitriol! We may disagree... but YOU ROCK!
