I think they're prepping Gregory for the Today (Yesterday) Show when Couric goes to CBS.Well, he would be a good reminder of her colonoscopy.

"George W made a mistake by relying on his own people and the Congressional members, a spinless bunch of woosey, entrenched, career flatulence masquerading as public servants to defend and promote his policies."
EXACTLY!!! And I thought it was worth being repeated!!!

It's a Vietnamese Civil War!
There. That way they can still claim both scenarios.

As Cold Heat pointed out a day or two ago, Alawi doesn't really have a sense of what's going on in Iraq, because he lived in exile for the last 15 years or so. In addition, I am highly suspicious of his ties with the Iranians. It is possible he is being paid to say this stuff, either by the Iranians or someone else (like George Soros).
Funny how he popped up with the civil war comment right after the New York Times gave everyone their cues, isn't it?

Too bad you can't vote for Bill Clinton next time. That'll send the "true conservative" message. ;-)Now that's really not fair or accurate. The "True Conservative" message is one of the following:
- Vote for some third party waste of time like Perot or Buchanan (that got us Bubba)
- Stay home to "teach the RINOS a lesson" (that got us Jimmy Carter and the Ayatollah).

Should not a real leader of the USA make Congress eliminate this "auto-pilot"??? Should not a real leader make getting this spending level proper for the future of our descendants his #1 priority (other than national security)??? You don't seem to under our constitutional system and what powers the President has. Congress must reform these programs. Unfortunately, they lack the courage to do so because of political expediency. I agree that it should be our #1 priority because entitlements will consume most of the federal budget leaving very little discretionary funding.
We had this opportunity in 1983, but Congress and Reagan took the easy way out and raised SS taxes and reduced the benefits, including raising the retirement age to 1967. They kicked the can down the road rather than provide real solutions for an unsustainable program. SS has a projected $12.7 trillion liability and Medicare/Medicaid are in worst shape.
This is why many conservatives disagree with this admin. The focus and the priorities and the agenda are not "America First".
Don't heap all the blame on Bush. It should be shifted to Congress and the voters who don't want reform. Bush has done more to educate the American public about the looming dangers of the entitlement programs than any President in history.

Bob Schiefer calls the president "passionate." Gives him the nickname, "George Bush the Unleashed." Schiefer made these remarks in a clearly admiring tone as he signed off the CBS coverage.Schiefer's a liberal, but he has been to the school of hard knocks. I think he appreciates honest, forthright answers from politicians he interviews. It was reported on the Sunday thread that his interview with VP Cheney went well, too. I know there's no hope for him, but there does appear to be respect, contrary to many of the younger interviewers that are nothing but confrontational.

He has been trying to get Soc Sec changed
Yes, he has been trying to get the 30 million illegal immigrants in this country to start collecting. With his internationalist inspired "harmonization" program, we are now paying social security to people all over the world who are not US citizens.
