Liberty is not America's possession. Liberty is universal. He is not allowing any interruptions. The goal of this country ought to be to end tyranny. If the US loses its nerve, it will make the job of reformers more difficult.

BTW, I heard a blurb on the radio this morning that in peacetime, the US loses 1200 to 1500 troops per year due to accidents and other non-war related causesDuring the 26 plus years that I served the typical day saw TWO pilots losing their lives on training missions, [JUST PILOTS in the NAVY]. So you can extrapolate how many their were throughout the entire military!
It has always been that way, it is a dangerous job. It just is NOT reported every time there is an accident, suicide or a natural death UNLESS OF COURSE it is to inflate numbers for the anti-war crowd.
As of today we have lost 496 due to accidents, natural deaths etc in Iraq and there have been 1822 KIA's.

Yes, I noticed that. When W called on him, Carl said, "Thank you sir".
Nice touch, shows a good upbringing. Can't say that for most of the press corps.

Oh shut up. The little yellow bus will be pulling up soon. If you dont understand the difference between the rate of growth in discretionary spending, in comparison to WAR spending AND entitlement spending, you have nothing to say on the matter.
Bush has lost you? BUSH DOESNT NEED YOU!

One of my friends who is a liberal, has had that complaint about Bush since day one. He doesn't give enough press conferences and speeches and inform the public what's going on etc. Oh, but Clintoon did...blah blah blah
In some ways I agree, the more Bush gets out there and does this, talking to the press and people, the more I think his ratings would improve and he would show the MSM and people that he's a serious President about protecting this country, etc.
But the amount of his appearances and press conferences has not and would not affect how I viewed the man. It just goes to show you how pathetic liberals are that they would nit pick on something like how many press conferences a President has and let it affect how much they like him. What dolts.

It really is jawdroppingly amazing how the "news" media have shut down his voice from being heard by any Americans who do listen or watch "news" programs, or top-of-the-hour radio news.
AMEN!!!!

Right after that, he smiles at her and says "Good job at the gridiron, Helen." Hilarious. He smacks her down and then goes the extra mile to compliment her. Very Reagan-like! Gotta love it!

Exactly. The Dems today are far from JFK's "bear any burden, pay any price" to advance freedom and liberty.

Copy and paste from
an earlier post about line item veto:
Sonny M. Why not just repeal or reform the budget act of 1974 and allow the executive to embargo funds again?
Up until watergate, Presidents (from George Washington until Nixon) were able to do just that....without a specific line item veto.
