Hope that old guy that stands by the Pass Office with the protest sign didn't get hurt... OMG! Is that guy still there? Pretty sure he still was when we left in 98.

He stands out at the corner of RT 12, and Crystal lake Rd now. the last couple of weeks he's been over at Monument square in New London by the Bus station, and banks street. The guy is persistent, I'll give him that. My husband still misses the Golden Gate. I do not.

I'm sure the PETA freaks will ask if the dog was coerced in any way to work against his will.

I also think that all of these aircraft that "accidentally" fly into unauthorized space are "testing." Uh...no...some are just absent-minded pilots that don't realize where they are. Read the story in AOPA Pilot from 2 or 3 months ago. http://www.aopa.org

Well then, let me re-phrase:
I also think that most or some of these aircraft that accidentally fly into unauthorized space are "testing."
How's that?

Not too long ago, I decided to Google the first boss I had when I got out of the Navy. He was a Naval reservist and lived in Harpers Ferry, WV. He'd fly down to Norfolk NAS once or twice a month.
The first result that came back was a story about how he'd accidentally flown into the Camp David airspace and was escorted to the nearest airport by a pair of F-16s.

I always assumed an attack at the Sub Base would come from the water. Maybe the Coasties in New London scared them off.Ever since the Coast Guard got moved into the Department of Homeland security, I've been refering to them as "the Homies"...

I live less than 1/2 mile from the back gate of the base. My favorite story - I own a local RE/MAX office and we landed the RE/MAX balloon on the golf course on the base. The wind had picked up and the balloon pilot was concerned about drifting across and down the river so the golf course was a prime landing area. They drifted right over the back gate and onto the golf course. My husband, former navy submarine officer was on that flight and most embarrassed. It caused a bit of excitement but the golfers were the most upset. I was in the chase vehicle and had to go to the front gate and do some explaining. I'm not sure how we would have been received after 9/11.

You're right -- but it's a good idea to keep taking the medication, anyway!
