Did Race play a role in the Port Deal discussions? The very charge is met by the likes of Sean Hannity and others with Righteous Indigination. In fact, to mention it makes you the true problem. Mark Levin in fact called a MAjor General a dirtbag over that charge. The below cartoons may be an issue now in the UAE. They are not cartoons about that ole darn prophet however. THere will be no boycotts over these but remember still they dont help things. The cartoonist just give us what we want sometimes. From MSNBC the following cartoon. There were many others that through the glory of the net are available to all.
Libeled?
You mean like this?

Elyse,
I hope you don't mind that I mentioned you had also had to listen a few times to the tape to see exactly what Mr. Levin said/meant. (See my post right above yours to Jim)
I've asked Jim to reconsider since it looked kind of like a so-called comedy of errors. Of course, I know Jim has more information behind the scenes than we do so if he decides not to reconsider I'll understand. It just looked like a big misunderstanding though and so I thought I'd go ahead and speak out. (Of course, now I'm shaking in my houseshoes but Jim's a fair guy so hopefully he won't get too mad at me!)
It seems I misread your post. Please forgive me.
Sally,
I don't mind at all. I was composing a note to Jim in my mind and was shaking in my houseshoes wondering if I should send it. Thank you for saying exactly what I would have said.
Yeah, I don't think much of Hannity's shows. I do understand from FReepers who have met him that he is a nice guy, but I'd rather listen to oldies than his show. And his TV show isn't much better IMO. But lots of people seem to watch and listen.
Thanks Howlin....I needed that!!
I'll trust Jim's judgement and sense of fairness even if I don't really understand it.
###
Me too. From what I've seen, Jim puts up with a lot before he bans someone.
Thanks Howlin....I needed that!!
No problem at all! If I seemed snarky when I responded to you, I apologize. I was busy composing a post to Jim in order to ask a favor. I don't usually get nervous when I correspond with Jim but this is the first time I've asked a favor of him so I'm a little apprehensive. :)

Don't be apprehensive. From my experiences with Jim, he's generally fair and has no problem with someone disagreeing with him if they don't get nasty or try to push him into a corner.
I am sure Abizaid's comments were "approved" by Rumsfeld and above...the point is, as a military man, he should have known better than to step into a political fight, regardless of which side he favored.
I am in the military myself, and I have not gone in uniform, in front of the cameras, to make my preference known...regardless of which side he preferred, he needed to keep it to himself.
In fact, on one of the many threads I read (I believe last week) there was a discussion wrt whether bayourant was aware of just "who" he/she was talking too (Levin). It was made clear at that time.. What we are supposed to believe is that bayourant doesn't read the entire thread he takes an active role in debating? I don't buy that.
But I can't dig deep enough to source it out.
sw
Arabs are considered caucazoids last i looked....so why is race even brought up here
I actually think it's unseemly for conservatives to play race cards and think it's perfectly reasonable for Americans to be wary of Muslims, muslim Arabs or whomever has something of a track record of being against our interest.
I am not to worry much about cartoons. I belong to the American ethnic group most often skewed....white southern christian male
but...i leaned toward supporting the port deal for pragmatic reasons because I felt W owed these sheiks for their help in the WOT
which puts me in a minority here
on the other hand I did not support bombing christians to help muslims in the balkans though i was aware it was a bit more than that....i knew it could come back on us and it did a bit
W going on about race reminded me of Harrietgate of which I was quite angry with him and he sent his minions out to charge gender bias
ALL OF THIS PC RACE/GENDER PANDERING BY CONSERVATIVES IS ABOUT AS APPEALING TO OUR MOVEMENT AS NAZI TATTOOS
we surmise it's the same dog
read later.
I didn't see the threads you're talking about, but I trust Jim's judgment on this and think he did the right thing here.
I noticed you didn't comment on your ad hominem attacks against anyone who was against the UAE deal. Hmmmm, Well, just to refresh your "excellent" memory.......
stop the hyperbolic raving.
petulant, bloviationg about things you don't know anything about and just outright lying.
outright lies and slurs are as mother's milk to you.
You are incapable of writing a coherent, cogent post.
Some things you wrote, were NOT typos, but stupidity
Keep right on posting your uneducated drivel.
YOUR uneducated, whinging, out right LIES about this whole thing
You really shouldn't ask me if I am addled, dear. Addlepatted and uneducated are what YOU are!
your stupid rants about the NONEXISTANT al Qaeda "threat"!
because you are about as well informed on this topic as a box of rocks.
And that was on ONE thread. And to me. I've noticed you say the very same things to others on here, you just 'insert new name here'. You have your verbal attacks memorized and ready at a moments notice.
When you bow up, expect to recieve the same in return.
As I said, you are just tooooooo much. Lololol
B. Even if he does live in the UAE, who really cares? He wasn't even the most convincing, persuasive person-far from on it-on this subject, which is saying something if he actually does live and work in that country.
C. Whether or not he was rightfully banned-and this is an open and shut case, IMO-the idea that he made an immeasurable, irreplaceable contribution to this website is utterly absurd. There are people-some of whom are personal friends-who have been permanently expelled, suspended for an extended duration, or felt compelled to leave-for much lesser sins than him, each one at the very least ten times more worthy of consideration than this individual. Simply because his offenses weren't quite as egregious as those of some FR's most notorious users-and again, I still think they were pretty heinous-does not mean that he merits consideration. Even the people who agreed with him probably don't feel that his situation is comparable to that of other genuinely thoughtful users who were exiled from this website.
"I actually think it's unseemly for conservatives to play race cards and think it's perfectly reasonable for Americans to be wary of Muslims, muslim Arabs or whomever has something of a track record of being against our interest."
Sorry, all you need to do is look at some of the posts on FR and at letters to the editor to see that it very much was about anti-Muslim bias and Bush was right to call his critics on that. Your statement illustrates that. If Americans really were looking at a "track record" and not "race" for lack of a better term, they would be looking at a country with a very good record in aiding us in the war on terror and not merely looking at them as "Muslims."
I'm getting a little tired of the claim that Bush was using "the race card". If someone criticizes, say Jesse Jackson, for his behavior and comments and defenders say, you're just doing that because you're racist. That is playing the race card. If someone opposes Jesse Jackson by arguing , "Hey, blacks have a track record of acting like that." That is racism and people are right to call it as such.
If that's the test [irreplaceable contribution], color all of us toast.
Not that any of us can be perfectly replicated as far as contributions go, but nobody here (or anywehre else in life) is irreplaceable as cogiator.
As for the rest of your post, I agree. "Who cares?" The fellow can come back or not, under a new handle if necessary. All of the ramifictions and baggage of being kicked are in play.
