Whoops! Accusing Bush of Incompetence, Carlson Displays Her Own

Talk about people who live in glass houses . . .

For some time now, Chris Matthews has played the leitmotif of a "second-rate second term" at the White House. When on this evening's Hardball he invited Margaret Carlson to whack the Bush pinata, there were embarrassing consequences for the toothy ex-Time editor, now languishing at Bloomberg News.

Matthews tried his best to tee it up for Carlson:

"Margaret, I look at a pattern of events and they come out of people's mouths, conservatives, liberals, whatever: Katrina - competence question. That nomination for the Supreme Court, Harriet Miers, and now the ports issue. Is there a pattern of not being on base as we say in baseball, being caught off base by the President?"

Poor Margaret, eager as she surely was to cry 'incompetence' at the White House, replied: "And you forgot Katrina."

Retorted Matthews: "I started with that."

Rut-oh!

A 'gracious' Carlson tried to wriggle off the hook . . . by blaming Matthews: "It took you so long I had forgotten what you said."

Right.

Already on probation for her gaffe, Carlson inexplicably chose to attack Chris later in the segment, calling him a "50s man" for using the term "Red China." Guess she's a People's Republic kind of girl.

These buffoons never cease to show how freak deliberate and transparent they are. Libs are becoming really boring -- they are just too predictable.

No, for running to leap on the "Bush is incompetent" bandwagon while being unable to remember what the host had said for 15 seconds herself.

Hey, it's not earth-shattering, but if you don't get a chuckle from this, perhaps Nebraska football's travails have gotten to your sense of humor.

Where did Matthews find Margaret Carlson? I didn't know she was still running around loose.

I've begun using the phrase "Red China" again in the past week or so. Doing so is a reminder that the Beijing government runs the shipping company, COSCO (China Ocean Shipping)

COSCO has gained control of a terminal on the West Coast, even though, before that, one of its ships was used to smuggle arms into the US while Clinton was President. Even after the arms smuggling was discovered Clinton tried to arrange for COSCO to lease the Navy Base at Long Beach.Clinton also arranged for a loan for COSCO to build ships in Mobile, AL. COSCO also got exemption from US laws which "discriminated" against shipping companies owned by foreign governments.

I wish Hillary would "make us more secure" by taking the terminal(s?) away from COSCO.

Whoops! I left right after the first part, and missed her "50s man" on Red China. It's on my TiVo so I'll catch it later.
The first part was so boring...
