President Bush called reporters at about 2.30 ET aboard Air Force One to issue a very strong defense of port deal... MORE... He said he would veto any legislation to hold up deal and warned the United States was sending 'mixed signals' by going after a company from the Middle East when nothing was said when a British company was in charge... Lawmakers, he said, must 'step up and explain why a Middle Eastern company is held to a different standard.' Bush was very forceful when he delivered the statement... 'I don't view it as a political fight,' Bush said.... DEVELOPING...
Are you kidding? I don't think the dems would even nominate her.
It's another Harriet Miers moment - only worse. I am stunned.
If Bush hdid not jump the shark when he called people who want to protect our borders after 9/11 "vigilantes", then he certainly did so today.
Real brilliance there. A lot of thought reflected in comments like those. Try this one... I think we should ban trade with every single country that offers safe harbor to terrorist organizations like CAIR. We should absolutely refuse to cooperate with any government that allows known anti-Israeli groups like CAIR to operate freely within its borders.
Probably, but while some people from the Middle East may fly planes into office towers, not all Middle Eastern people fly planes into office towers.
I guess there's a whole lot things we don't need anymore, that's just one of them. After all, it's not like 9/11 changed anything.....
I'm with W on this one.
There are probably more terrorists in Britain at this point than in UAW.
And seeing Dims grandstand on this is making me sick to my stomach. As for Carter's support, he's a broken watch: right twice a day.
If a legitimate deal was made by a legitmate company from an allied country, better live with it. Rejecting them will create more enemies, make us look like hypocrites and undermine what few moderates that remain in the region.
If this doesn't convince you then consider: Hillary! is opposed.
Emotions are taking over the thought process with this thing. The issue will play itself out before midterms.
When Bush says he doesn't play politics he means exactly that. I can only respect him for it.
My mind is not made up, but I would certainly agree this was the president's sentiment. Part of me wants to punish them for harboring fugitives/malcontents, and part of me wants to encourage right-thinking vis-a-vis the Western world.
It's difficult. The rabid foaming on both widely-seperated sides of the issue is making it hard to see.
I don't think the dems would nominate shrillary either. But the MSM are and will and would...
"Real brilliance there"
why thank you....
"A lot of thought reflected in comments like those"
well, just had to correct the record your information as UAE being "the one country that has become exactly what we want the Middle East to be".
When the Israelis raided Entebii to free dozens of Jewish citizens from a hijacked airliner, one of the main reasons they were successful was that an Israeli company had built the airport.
They knew every inch of the grounds, heating, air ducts, everything.
Now we ship all that data re American ports to Arabia.
His lack of judgement, on occasion, is absolutely horrific.
This should give the Dems another 7 seats in the House.
The veto part makes me think of sick Democratic lines. It's almost unbearable if it wasn't hilarious. He has managed to guarantee another long week of late night jokes.
Blah.
UAE is quite different from lets say the Saudi KIngdom. We should encourage that. The citizens there are not raving Taliban fanatics. There help to us during the Iraq war made up for any past slip ups on that. Second ,I am not going to judge a whole country and a govt because 2 of the highjackers were from there. Thats ludricous. Want to judge a whole country by a few of its people then dont look at the threads here. You will have to lock yourself in your house and never come out since the USA has a ton of crazies.
A little harsh but BINGO!
