Interesting. Meanwhile, Flemming Rose, the culture editor of the same Danish newspaper (Jyllands-Posten), released this superb editorial, which was not apologetic at all, and explained the importance of being able to publish such things: Why I Published Those Cartoons

Looks like the movement to buy Danish products and support Denmark is going to backfire and now turn into a boycott. Starting today we are personally boycotting everything Danish. Screw the wimps.

I think that they are coming under pressure from the trade lobby, as European firms, in general, are losing billions in trade contracts.

Aust and NZ cheese manufacturers, this week, signed big contracts for the Middle East. So big, that they are worried about how to meet the demand. But such a good market opportunity can't be missed.

The huge French dairy outfit "Puk" (yes, that is their real name!) has been withdrawn all across the region, because of the association with Denmark. I bet the Chairman of that firm never wants to hear the word "cartoon" again.

The funny thing was all the hoopla from Islamic countries had no impact of any kind in Europe or Denmark in particular. The bright Muslim mobs burned men, women, tires, buildings and whatever else in their own countries. It brought their own irrelevance into stark focus.

Why in the hell is the editor apologizing and handing them a victory now?

Well, I don't know if they wimped out or not. I could not find anything on the website including the apology in Arabic (not that I could read it) or in fact anything in Arabic at all.

Then there are apologies like: I am sorry I did it, it was a mistake, and I will never do it again." But there is also "I am sorry you were offended as that is not what was intended but it was the right thing to do." No way to know right now just what was said.
