YESTERDAY, liberal senators denounced the Bush administration for the way it has used electronic intelligence here at home in pursuit of al Qaeda sort of.
The administration, they said, had behaved in an unconscionable fashion by using warrantless wiretapping kind of.

And I think the reason is that Bush has been unapologetic about it. When he came out swinging at that press conference and said 'Hearings? Sure!' he destroyed the dems by just standing up and saying 'Here I am, take your best shot.' And these withered old fossils started stuttering "Well, uh, I mean, of COURSE we would have, uh, supported this because, uh, terrorism, uh...'
There's a lesson for the President here--stand up to these people, because they're never going to work with you, but they're too ballless to fight you when you're in the right.
The Nasty Boy award goes to Russ Feingold. He called the president a liar basically, was on the attack all day long. I figure he was the designated "make moveon.org happy" hitter for the day. Kennedy, Feinstein, and even Schumer and Leahy were much more subdued in yesterday's Judiciary hearing with Gonzales than they were last week in the Intelligence Committee hearings.
As I watched Kennedy's quiet, almost non-accusatory questioning of Gonzales, I couldn't believe he was the same guy I watched last week.
I know I'm biased, but I enjoyed the helloutta yesterday's hearing. Gonzales didn't give an inch.

Prepared Statement of Hon. Alberto R. Gonzales, Attorney General of the United States
February 6, 2006
Someone please inform the DEMS they are on the wrong side of another national security issue....again.
It seems to be all about calls between the USA and foreign parties that are believed to be in al-Qaeda. So long as this is all it's about, it will be hard to raise much outrage among Joe Public.
The dims are setting themselves up as total lightweights on national security.
Terrorists are the Dems allies. The goal is the same; destroy Pres. Bush. Dems are willing to accept some collateral damage in the process, such as the destruction of a city or two and the death of hundreds of thousands of Americans.
God help us. I just hope me or any famliy members are not in the major metropolitan area that these radical terrorists hit next. They must be laughing at our politicians, both Republican and Democrat who are fiddling while Rome gets ready to burn.
This tempest is ultimately about procedures. If Bush couldn't spy from inside out, he'd spy from outside in. Scotland Yard and others would be happy to help.
Bombing buildings with planes is more entertaining to Mooses, but those with half a rational brain left know the con game works better to gain territory. They scored a huge coup by getting Bush to call it "a religion of peace."
Illegal break-ins, wire taps, email eavesdropping, car tracking devices, cell phone trackers are making front page news in California. Silvester Stallone was illegally wire tapped in Californicated. P.I. Pelicano is being prosecuted while the lawyer that hired him hides in the background. Big Deal. Hundreds of workers comp claimants are illegally wire bugged in this state every year. God forbid you suffered a major injury in traffic accident in Oregon. By the time the defense firms and their private investigators get done with you, you will be grateful if your doctor bills are paid.
My husband and I had a conversation yesterday about all of the dishonesty we observed from some Democrats during the Alito hearings and now, concerning the wiretapping to prevent terrorism. Of course, all of this unfair and dishonest behavior constantly goes on without fact or merit. Every Bush act is distorted and caricatured into the opposite of what it is, it seems to us. I am sure we all remember that the events of 9/11 took place very early in the Bush administration. He had just moved into the neighborhood and my goodness, the outcry from the left that he should have done something to have prevented that awful event, was deafening, useless and awful. Now, his policies have prevented another attack for all of these years and they have flipped to fit their accusations against the policies he has put into place to keep us safe. He is doing what they accused him of NOT doing and now, they are trying to destroy him because of it. If our enemies are allowed to freely plan and execute plans via modern communication systems such as through telephones, emails and the like, stopping them will be impossible. I have some thoughts about those whose complaints are the loudest. Do they have something significant to hide along the lines of national security? How childish and regressive do we have to be before common sense Americans will awaken and say "Enough!"
I wish someone would read the Rockefeller memo about going after the republicans about national security and lying in the election season but that they could only do it once .
This traitor needs to be exposed ,they are playing politics with peoples lives.
Why does everyone forget these things ,use the facts that we have these democrats sre traitors and the republicans are complicit in all of of this by their incompetence and refusal to fight them on their own terms
No thanks, John D(imwit) Rockefeller IV
Jay's got a miniscule mind,
So he tells us that we should be blind
And not ask smart hackers
To track our attackers.
I don't want advice from his kind.
The Enemy's Bill of Rights
Our Constitution is for everyone!
"They came for the enemy and I said nothing."
"Then they came for the enemy's supporters and still I said nothing."
"Then they came for me and there was no one left."
Support compassion and understanding.
Oppose and stop the fascist, Nazi, bigoted, hateful, Islamophobic, war criminal, law breaking, racist, murdering, mean spirited Bush Administration.
Our Constitution does not permit discrimination!
Make checks payable to the Democrat National Committee, Washington, D.C.
What burns me about the Imperial Senate is that they say they will be happy to give the President what he wants, all he has to do is "ask them". IOW, come and plead with us so we can deign to give you permission to protect us.
