DETROIT (Feb. 4, 2006) -- Troy Aikman made it into the Pro Football Hall of Fame's biggest class in years. The guy he threw to -- Michael Irvin -- will have to wait once again.
Reggie White, Warren Moon, Harry Carson, John Madden and Rayfield Wright also were elected. Not since 2001 had the maximum number of candidates been chosen

Not a bad class overall. I wouldn't have put Irvin in anyways, but good for the others and congrats to the new HoFers.

With Warren Moon going in I bet Peyton Manning is breathing a sign of relief right now knowing hes already in the HOF.

I agree, the notion that a QB has to "win the big one" is faulty. They claim football is the ultimate team game, how can the QB be blamed for not getting there?
Peyton already has credentials to get in.

The Super Bowl is a TEAM ACHIEVEMENT, STATS are a personal one.

Harry Carson should have been elected to the Hall of Fame years ago. He's been so bitter over this that I wouldn't be surprised to see him refuse to attend his own induction ceremony.

Good choices, all.

Madden? Mr. 1-6 in AFC Championship games.
Great announcer if not the best color guy of all time. But with all that talent, the Raiders should have done better than one Super Bowl in his 10 years.
Not to tick you Steeler fans off but to this day Madden and the rest of the Raiders who were on the field swear that the "immaculate reception" hit the ground first. I agree with them.

OK, I live in Baltimore right now (but not a native) and I know this will set off a Cleveland firestorm, but Art Modell deserves to be in the HOF. His absence is nothing short of a mockery of the HOF itself.
The fact that Warren Moon (Warren freakin' Moon?) is now in and Modell is not is farce.

how bout them Cowboys? Considering their achievements over the years, they are probably one of the most underrepresented teams in the HOF. I think before this latest class they only had 6-7 players in there.

I'm trying to remember something, anything Harry Carson did that merits being placed in with Payton, Brown, Butkus, Montana, et al.
Really, is it because he was on national TV every week, and people recognize the name?
Or is it because he has multiple SB rings? Well, so does Sean Landeta, and Elvis 'Toast' Patterson.

I'm trying to remember something, anything Harry Carson did I'm sitting here doing the same thing for Warren Moon.
