A blasphemy regulation could always be discussed, but it shouldn't be used as a tool to cool down the debate after the allah-drawings.

The only "discussion" I want to see about the so-called "blasphemy law" is one where the subject is how quickly these muslims who want these kinds of laws are going to return to the backward countries from which they came.

Norwegian law already forbids threats and insults to person on . . . outlook on life

You mean Norwegians aren't allowed to make fun of pessimists? Existentialists? People who go around saying "Have a Nice Day"?

The point is not to restrict freedom of speech but to give it direction

War is Peace
Freedom is Slavery
Ingnorance is Strength

Sorry, there's no room for a "blasphemy regulation" in any free country. Individual organizations can certainly establish their own standards - for example, Christian broadcasters shouldn't be forced to carry Howard Stern - but having the government determine what is blasphemy and how to control it is insane. Besides, you know there is only one group that would be protected, in practice: Muslims, who would foam at the mouth about any mention of them or their religion and file a million complaints.

They, on the other hand, will still consider themselves perfectly free to refer to Jews as swine, Christians as dogs, etc. Believe me, nobody is going to dare to enforce the hypothetical blasphemy law against Muslims.

But that's okay, once sharia comes to Norway, it will be a moot point anyway.

They are taking this thing way too serious Maybe a hobby or joining a real Church would shock them into reality.

Norwegian Muslims want blasphemy law

"Why can't Norway be more like the Islamic Hell-Hole of a country
that I fled?"

We should get the psychologists to diagnose and treat the complaining
Muslim immigrants for "psychotic homesickness".

I hope the guy also will agree to noise pollution codes that
will forbid their high-decibel call to prayers from their mosques.

Blasphemy? Islam isn't even a real religion.

Can one commit blasphemy if one is not a believer? Such that if one does not believe Allah is the one true God, sacred, etc. How can it be blasphemy?

A contemptuous or profane act, utterance, or writing concerning God or a sacred entity.
The act of claiming for oneself the attributes and rights of God.

Norwegian law already forbids threats and insults to person on the background of their skin color, nationality, outlook on life or sexual preference

I am pretty reluctant to support limitations on free speech and was feeling no sympathy for this idea....until I got to the sentence above.

Since Norwegians have made the idiotic P.C. move of protecting other groups from mocking words, the Muslims seems to me to have a reasonable case (to petition for the complete end of individual liberty of thought and conscience).

"The point is not to restrict freedom of speech

OK - so far, so good...

but to give it direction so that weak groups do not feel insulted or mocked.

D'OH! I knew there was a catch! There always is.

And I love how he refers to his group as "weak" and in need of special protection so they don't "feel insulted or mocked." I call upon all to mock away!

"The point is to protect people against insult. God should be able to take care of himself," Smith told Dagsavisen.

So, we're protecting people from insults now? Them folks out there in Norway must be a sensitive lot. Of course we already know the muslims are crybabies.

Here it comes...the only "blasphemy" that will become illegal is "blasphemy" against Islam.

I believe Bridget Bardot was recently hauled into court and put in serious jeopardy for some fairly tame anti-immigrant comments.

So today the Euros are looking longingly at free speech in their rear view mirrors.
