It's mostly impossible to stop absentee balloting. The tact has to be challenges and making sure the voter roles are kept cleaned off. There has to be a method, for example, of insuring dead people and out of state voters are not able to vote.
I think the election was a disaster and it should be a lesson to all of us on how much better off we are with a military dictator in Pakistan, because with all their nukes a democratic election with their militant population could render and even more devestating result.
Hey Johnnie...he interviewed him live and it was the standard Hamas boilerplate...Israel has to respect us, observe the pre 1967 borders, renounce killing Palestinians, blah blah blah.
Tried to say Hamas has already recognized Israel.
Those kooks are surrounded by a wall .. they'll fight each other till their deaths
NON of the arab world wanted them in their countries .. that's way they kicked them out
The 60 vote dohicky plays on Monday afternoon, if it plays at all.
Of the remaining seven, four are against filibuster. That leaves a maximum of three Gang-of-14 Senators being willing to cast a vote for filibuster. None of them has expressed an intention to vote for the filibuster.
In order to defeat the cloture motion, the DEMs have to "flip" more than one of the "anti-filibuster" Senators, plus insure that all anti-Alito votes outside of the Gang-of-14 will vote against cloture.
Akaka and Dorgan have expressed that they will not support a filibuster, which would put the anti-filibuster vote up to 63.
Akaka said today [Jan 27] he wouldn't support a filibuster because the Senate has heard Alito's positions in confirmation hearings.

Sens. Daniel Akaka of Hawaii and Byron Dorgan of North Dakota made it clear Thursday night after a second day of floor debate on Alito that they would not support a filibuster, even though Akaka was going to vote against the nominee and Dorgan was still undecided.

Joe Lieberman (D-CT) - NONCOMMITAL on filibuster - AGAINST the nominee

Ken Salazar (D-CO) - Against filibuster - AGAINST the nominee
In a [Jan 25] conference call with reporters, Salazar said he still plans to vote against Alito's confirmation but indicated that his problems with the judge's philosophy do not extend to the extraordinary circumstances that would warrant a filibuster by the minority party.

Olympia Snowe (R-ME) - Against filibuster - Noncommital on the nominee
Her voicemail box (202.224.5344) is currently "full." LOL.
NY Times - January 13, 2006
By ADAM NAGOURNEY and NEIL A. LEWIS
After Alito's Testimony, Democrats Still Dislike Him but Can't Stop Him
... The chances of a Democratic filibuster faded after the third day of hearings, as a spokeswoman for Senator Olympia J. Snowe of Maine, a moderate Republican, announced that Ms. Snowe would oppose it.

Lincoln Chaffee (R-RI) - Against Filibuster - Noncommital on the nominee.
Chafee has long signaled his worry that a filibuster against Alito would gridlock the Senate. Hourahan reaffirmed Thursday that the senator would join fellow Republicans in voting to shut off debate.

Mary Landrieu (D-LA) - Against filibuster - Noncommital on the nominee.
"Because we have such a full plate of pressing issues before Congress, a filibuster at this time would be, in my view, very counterproductive. It is imperative that we remain focused on creating the tools New Orleans, Louisiana and the Gulf Coast will need to rebuild. This includes passing the Baker bill and allowing our state to keep its fair share of offshore energy revenues. We simply cannot afford to bring the Senate to a halt at a time when we need its action the most. If called to vote for cloture on Judge Alito's nomination, I will vote yes.
"I will continue to consult with constituents, groups, organizations and colleagues to decide on my final vote. I do think it is important that we have an up or down vote."

Mark Pryor (D-AR) - Against filibuster - AGAINST the nominee
He added, without prompting, that he did not support a filibuster against Alito because "one is not warranted."

When it comes to the Clintons, I admit I won't discount anything. But this comes close to a tinfoil-hat theory and I can't vouch for it either way.
IMHO, The imploding of the toons' would get this ball rolling...Here's my bazaar idea, staring with: The toons' should be completely driven out of political life both should be in a fed pen and his presidential library should be closed. All his & her crimes against America and the American people should be told to honest Americans with all the evidence to back it up. This would be an excellent beginning to deep six the present dem party.
Now...I personally believe all the crimes coming out of DC by either party must be exposed. Clean the lawbreakers out and bring America back to her roots. Wasn't it Hamilton who spoke of honorable men with high integrity a must serving in the WH, congress, and blk robes? Boy have we ever fallen to the depths of the scumbag crowd serving in DC.
Yes, they are setting up absentee voting stations for evacuees from LA in the States and cities that took in the majority of the people.
" .... Bush, Clinton, Bush, Clinton ..."
Agreed.
I don't think DIFI is a member.

I see we had the same reaction to Mr. Zahar. He is quite confident that any funding losses from the US and the EU will be taken care of by Arab and Islamic countries. In response to a question about renouncing terrorism, he says it hasn't even been defined, but, that said, it is whatever Israel is doing.
No. She is in the Gang-of-2. Boxer and DiFi.
I agree, Morgan, but we are talking about LA Democratic Politics... they dont' think like we do.
OH..yeah...I knew George Bush as the Texas Rangers owner for a long time before he was my Governor and now President.
I used to see him a games all of the time..
Tom Schieffer stayed on as a head honcho in the Rangers after Bush left to run for Governor...
When Bush became POTUS, he made Tom, Ambassador to Australia...and now he is in Ambassador to Japan, I think.
I didn't see that particular bit, but she was listed as being on the panel on MTP.
Maybe I wasn't clear... I wasn't referring to elected officials.
It appears the Israeli wall may be better than some realized. Now, if nothing else, the Israeli's can bomb over the wall without worrying about hitting other Jews. If Hamas does not get it under control, the consequences will be devistating.
What? No dead people voting?? That could ruin everything!!
