Maybe I wasn't clear... I wasn't referring to elected officials.
Polling data at the time was overwhelmingly in favor of invading Iraq. That's why the dims were forced to support the resolution (not because they actually believed in defending our country from a threat). IIRC pols were high 70% or even 80%+ in favor of taking action. And that was before the UN dog and pony show.
Were there skeptics? Absolutely! But the mood of the country was to "put a boot in their ass."
