My son Jimmy passed away this afternoon, about two weeks shy of his fourth birthday. He had been fighting severe epilepsy for over two years and he lost his battle today.
When he has been in the hospital before, my dear friends here on Free Republic have been more than generous with warm thoughts and prayers. For that, you all have my sincere thanks.
This is one of my favorite hymns. The words are based on the comforting text found in Psalms 46:10. The tune is an excerpt from "Finlandia" by Jean Sibelius. It's one of the most beautiful melodies in all hymnland.
My heartfelt sympathy to you and your family, dear RebelBanker.
Leni
Children of the heavnly Father
Safely in His bosom gather;
Nestling bird nor star in Heaven
Such a refuge eer was given.
God His own doth tend and nourish;
In His holy courts they flourish;
From all evil things He spares them;
In His mighty arms He bears them.
Neither life nor death shall ever
From the Lord His children sever;
Unto them His grace He showeth,
And their sorrows all He knoweth.
Though He giveth or He taketh,
God His children neer forsaketh;
His the loving purpose solely
To preserve them pure and holy.
I am so sorry.
I will say a special prayer tonight that your little one be welcomed into Heaven by all the angels and saints, into the arms of our Lord.

The Broken Chain
We little knew that morning
That God was going to call your name.
In life we loved you dearly,
In death we do the same.
It broke our hearts to lose you.
You did not go alone;
For part of us went with you
The day God called you home.
You left us peaceful memories
Your love is still our guide;
And though we cannot see you,
You are always at our side.
Our family chain is broken,
And nothing seems the same;
But as God calls us one by one,
The chain will link again.
I'm so sorry for your loss. May God Bless you and your family and give you comfort. My prayers are with you.
Our prayers are with your son and your family- May your family have the peace of the Lord- God be with you.

My prayers are with you and your family. We lost my four year old niece several years ago after a long battle with illness. I have seenup close and personally just what you are facing.
My God comfort you.
Jesus called his name
Emptiness now fills my life
Will it ever be the same
In time Ill see my son once more
And our love will never end
But now he plays on streets of gold
Never to cry, never to hurt and never to die again
God bless and keep you and yours.
Amen
