This is a "legitimate" test in-so-far as it was developed by researchers at the University of Georgia. It was designed to test the theory that homophobia is a manifestation of repressed homosexual desire. The researchers reported difficulty finding heterosexual men who were "high-grade non-homophobic."
The gay scene can indeed be nasty. I mean, if just one hair is out of place... And don't even be caught wearing last season's threads! : )
But not THIS nasty:
"1. Do you consider heterosexuality immoral?"
"2. Can you trust a straight person to work with children?"
"3. Have you ever keyed a straight person's car?"
Etc.
I'm more Eddie Murphy ("I kid the homosexuals, because...they're homosexuals") and less Sam Kinison ("Because a few fags f****d some monkeys...").
74---that makes me a homo-phobic.
This is a proud day.
Really I find that often hen you read such thing in the paper the abuser says they were really in love, and the underage consented.
They are both giving in to and taking advantage of a psychological illness.
1. No I mean on account of it being a mental illness which is comorbid with a slew of mental disorders including depression and risk of suicide. The people who care about someone are often harmed emotionaly by suicidal behavior, as well as finding out, for instance that a loved one has through stupidity contracted a deadly illness.
2. I'm suggesting that homosexual attraction is not love in any sense it's a pathology of self love, and acting out of dozens of fetishes. Child molestors insist they are in love, it's BS. Homosexuals insist they're in love and it's BS. That's why gay marriage even as a legal arrangement is naive.
3. DSM up until it's most recent incarnation properly listed same sex attraction as a mental disorder. Looked at as a mental disorder one suddenly sees the patterns it shares with similar sexual disorders such as attraction to teens or children, and sado masichism for instance.
I got a 58.
I suspect I am a bit homophobic because I don't have any friends or family that are gay. At least that I know of.:-)
24 - Your score rates you as "high-grade non-homophobic."
In his 1996 study of 64 white, male college students, Dr. Henry Adams classed 29 participants as "non-homophobic." Their mean score was 30.48, however, placing most of the men outside of this sub-group. Dr. Adams reported that he had difficulty finding heterosexual men whose scores ranked them as high-grade non-homophobic
I am feeling kind of out of place on FR.
Hey Lily...I scored a 49 and made the cut too. Not sure what it means except I think the word, "homophobic" is stupid.
Wyoming, where the men are men . . .
. . . and the sheep are scared!
24 - "high grade non-homophobic" - I don't feel strongly pro-gay, am definitely not anti-gay.
Probably a libertarian? (Small "l" or big "L")? We're in the minority but proud. ;^)
46 - Your score rates you as "non-homophobic."
Pretty accurate. I don't care one way or the other. I just don't want it flaunted in my face. (uh, you know what I mean).
78 - Your score rates you as "high-grade homophobic."
Hey, I must have missed one or two....
Except you learn about it every day when women and men say they're expecting a child, for example. Or that they're getting married. Or when a husband sends his wife flowers at work. Or a wife stops by for lunch with her husband. Or a friend at work tells you he's moving in with his girlfriend and another says she just kicked some jerk boyfriend to the curb. Or when you neighbors are playing with their kids or your son expresses interest in a girl at school. Unless you've cut yourself off from all outside contact you can't encounter these reminders of various folk's practicing heterosexuality in your own life.
In light of this it's very difficult for me to embrace the notion homosexuals are "in our face" when seeking humane treatment on an individual level.
This is the best that I could do as well.
"Homosexuals insist they're in love and it's BS. "
Seems only a homo would know that.
Yeah, I might become depressed and suicidal too if people like you kept breathing down my neck and calling me immoral, mentally ill, and generally wrong in every conceivable way. Moreover, homosexual sex may carry a higher risk of deadly disease, but only a "risk," and not a "certainty." No sex is 100% safe.
Christians insist they're in love love and it's BS. Homeschoolers insist they're in love and it's BS. Firemen insist ...
Like many anti-gay arguments, this one jumps all over the board - and incorrect at every turn. Seriously, would you like to have your love for someone demeaned, and told it's not really love, but a "pathology of self-love (whatever that is)?
As uncomfortable as I occasionally may be with gay culture being pushed in my face, I'm even more uncomfortable when gays have their very humanity questioned - because the questioner thinks they're "icky."
3. DSM up until it's most recent incarnation properly listed same sex attraction as a mental disorder.
Why "properly"? That same sex attraction is a disease may be self-evident to some, but not to me. Unusual? Statistically, yes. Of course. But a "disorder"? Not unless someone EXPLAINS to me why. You haven't.
I got this score I guess I win.
100 - Your score rates you as "high-grade homophobic."
Same here, got a 36
