Apparently even Chris Matthews has his limits when it comes to swallowing Dem BS. The proof came tonight, when Matthews clearly wasn't buying Al Sharpton's transparently lame defense of Hillary Clinton's allegation, at an MLK Day event, that "the House of Representatives has been run like a plantation, and you know what I'm talking about."
Sharpton's theater of the absurd reached its apotheosis when he claimed that Hillary "did not make the comments at a Harlem church". Even the New york Times had to admit that she had spoken in "at the Canaan Baptist Church of Christ in Harlem," and Hardball rolled footage of her speaking at a lectern in the church draped with fabric decorated with a cross.
Responded Matthews, not even attempting to suppress an amused look: "You're kidding me, Reverend. I don't understand why you're defending her. Do you think she would have used that word with a Jewish group, an Italian group? She used that phrase, 'you know what I'm talking about.' What's that supposed to mean? She was pandering."
For what it's worth, in the following segment, MSNBC reporter Norah O'Donnell, who had spoken with people in the Hillary camp, gave conflicting indications on the fall-out. On the one hand, O'Donnell said that Hillary is not going to "walk away" from her plantation statement. On the other hand, Norah said Hillary will have to "clean-up" her remarks.
Hardball/NewsBusters plantation ping to Today Show ping list.
Hillary was 'projecting' again ....
Where the Clinton name is concerned, Chris Matthews has a clue. He will defend just about anybody on the Dem's side.
Except the two of them
Reminds me of the Ghandi-pumping-gas story...is she tone deaf, or what? Sheesh...
Democrats are tone deaf. They think that whatever they say will be lapped up by people, and there will be no consequences for what they say. That may actually be true with their hardcore base, but they certainly don't win new voters and influence people with it.
Ok, would Chrissy pose the same questions to Queen Hillary if she were to appear on his show? Heck NO! He'd shamelessly worship the beast.
LOL! I had posted my 'tone deaf' entry even before I read yours. GMTA!
I think that is particularly true when it comes to Hillary. On the one hand, as Rush likes to point out, she is praised as the world's smartest woman. On the other hand, her style is wooden, insensitive, and lacking in the milk of human kindness.
I wish i was in the land of cotton....
I find that interesting..I quit watching him. The Iraq war made him go gaga. I used to find him at least amusing.
Shep Smith's evening show aired a video clip of Hellary commenting on what she said ... she was not backing down
Maybe it's what Eleanor Roosevelt compelled her to say...
Big time!
Hillary. She's a totalitarian freak.
The Dems can't speak their minds... That's pretty funny.
What I find the most amusing is the fact that the dems. seem very *nervous* about her. They can't decide if she's a strong candidate or an albatross. They really do not know if she can pull this off or not. And they won't know until election day. Of course, it's too late by then. And they would have wasted all this time backing someone they instinctively knew was going to get her ass handed to her. I'd say they are marching straight into a political quagmire. But they can't tell her *no*. Now can they? LOL
