FOR THE second year in a row...the population of Massachusetts has shrunk.

It was one of only three states to end the year with fewer people than it had at the start -- New York and Rhode Island were the others -- and the only one to do so for the second year running.

"The bad part of this is that these Mass. refugees are moving to states with more sane governments bringing their stupid voting habits with them. Watch as NH and Maine become more blue as Mass. becomes more empty. Instead of one screwed up state we will have three"

Ditto what Californians IMHO have done to Oregon and are now doing to Nevada. I don't know how much longer Republican Presidential candidates hold that state

I visited my sister (who is studying at Harvard) in Cambridge not too long ago. One thing that caught my attention: I passed by a store with a t-shirt that read, "The People's Republic of Cambridge".

Communist socities have one thing in common - they tend to depopulate over time. I guess that applies to societies that think it's fun to think of themselves as Communist too.

Regards, Ivan

Many liberals don't understand the connection between "liberalism" and "sucking". They believe the high prices and high crime are just incidental, not the result of regulations, gun control, etc. So they move to NC or somewhere and bring their dumb ideas with them.

Unfortunately, what you say rings true for many conservative states in the union. As the high prices of housing drive out liberals from states like California, many smaller states could easily be overwhelmed by an insurge of liberalism.

Cambridge has been known as Moscow on the Charles for years. If you refer to the Peoples Republic people assume you are talking about Cambridge.

I guess a lot can be said for lower taxes, lower cost of living, milder climate, etc.

Not to mention the Southern Hospitality :{)

So former Massachusetts residents don't have the right to move to other "good" states, huh?

-------

Not without signing a statement foresaking the right to vote Democratic for the next 468 years. And promising to only vote once.

:-)

I'm glad you and others from Massachusetts are speaking up here. I tire of the imbeciles that go out their way trying to paint every Massachusetts resident as a liberal. The truth is that Massachusetts has a great many communities that hold exceptionally strong values. Unfortunately their voices are muted by the more densely populated urban centers.

I live on Cape Cod and almost everyone I meet knows two or three families that are packing it on and moving. South Carolina is the state I hear the most. There are three main factors for this. One -the Cape Cod middle class are taking the huge gains in property values, cashing in, semi-retiring, and moving to what they think are the next boom towns. Two- the cost of living here is staggering and affordable only if you own your own business, or are one the millionaires or billionnaires who live on Marthas Vineyard or Nantucket. Three-"White Flight"- there is an ENORMOUS influx of Brazilians. Hyannis is now called little Brazil, and the huge Brazilian population only frequents Brazilian owned businesses.Crime rates are going up and the old established businesses are getting out.

Why don't more people want to move to Massachusetts?

My salary would be about 30% higher in Mass. My 200,000 dollar house would cost a million or more with its ten acres of land, if I was very lucky. I would have to leave my rifles and pistols in Texas. I could not have a rifle range in my back yard. Kennedy and the witch would be my Senators and the Barney Franks would be representative.

I will stay in Texas!!!!

Any state that keeps re-electing a murderer deserves what it gets.

People like you, we want. It's the liberals we don't. I've heard a lot of concerns about the people we've already got here from Louisianna from Katrina.

We're just now recovering from the Clintons and we've now got a lot of the people who thought Cathleen Blanco and Ray Nagan were a good idea....we're concerned they're gonna screw up our politics. I'm already hearing they're wreaking havoc elsewhere....it sounds like we're about ready to send a lot of them on home as fast as possible.

Best of luck in your move!

My wife (from Massive2shitts) had 4 siblings. Two of them still live in Mass. The other three all live in NH. (Well, her brother died, but he lived in NH for many years before he died.)

Here in Texas, three and two make five. ;)

By the looks of the Mass license plates up here in NH on holiday weekends, it's a wonder there's anybody left down there at all. ";^)
We native types are far outnumbered by "come heres". They're even taking over in some towns above the notches.
This Jeff Jacoby feller must be the token conservative at the Glob, eh?

My wife had 4 siblings. She is not her own sibling. Well, maybe in Texas she might be.

LMAO!

I have family on the Cape near Hyannis, and I hear (and see) the same thing. (I abandoned Mass. almost ten years ago). But I think it is important for people to know that there really are a lot of very traditional and Conservative-minded people who've stayed, because they love their homes and neighbors and have good jobs in the state. Given the composition of the Bay State's congressional delegation, I understand that some of you might think that it is Sodom and/or Gomorrah redux, but there are some nice towns and nice people and beautiful scenery to recommend it. Unfortunately, there's also Barney Frank and Teddy and Kerry and a thoroughly corrupt legislature and state government. That's why I live in NH.

That's exactly what he is: the Conservative lawn jockey with the lantern outside the Globe headquarters on Morrissey Boulevard. I don't know how he can stand it, but God bless him for having the courage to stand his ground inside that viper's nest.

I just find it impossible to comprehend any number of people moving anywhere strictly for political reasons and especially when the moving is done in order to bolster a Party's influence rather then simply escape from it.
