Judge Samuel A. Alito’s wife Martha left the confirmation hearing room in tears this evening, the DRUDGE REPORT has learned.

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) apologized to the Judge’s family for the behavior of his fellow committee members during the course of the last three days.

Sen. Graham said: “Judge Alito, I am sorry that you’ve had to go through this. I am sorry that your family has had to sit here and listen to this.”

Democrats on the Judiciary Committee have attacked Judge Samuel A. Alito over his membership in Concerned Alumni of Princeton and his involvement in the Vanguard case.

One senior Republican in the hearing room said of the situation: “After three full days of attacks against her husband’s character, Mrs. Alito had enough. Democrat behavior during this hearing has not only been wrong, it’s been embarrassing. Ted Kennedy is nothing but a bully.”

Come on, guys, if Mrs. Alito cried, I'll bet that she wishes that she hadn't done that and would greatly appreciate it if we all pretended not to notice. The last thing that that good woman would want is to become the focus of attention and take the spotlight off of her husband's stellar performance."

yes, yes, u are right, but she will need to grow some thicker skin as this isn't the last time she will have endure this type of thing.

"I just wish for once it was Teddy who was getting grilled. He's never had to answer for his lifetime of despicable behavior."

Happy New Year, Arasina!

I know it, girlfriend; Kennedy is deplorable. The baggage he brings to the committee makes it unthinkable that he sits in judgement of others. I do not understand the people of Mass. continuing to elect him. Peace.

The only thing is, the Republicans wouldn't treat him the way he treats Republicans. They have way too much class.

I hadn't looked into any way to hear Savage other than through the radio. Sorry.

Cal Gal, they are a cartoon!

As the slogan goes, "No taxation without representation" it should read by todays standards, "No taxation without sane representation"!

First of all Mrs. Alito cried because of the build up frustration she had have for the last 72 hours due to the despicable and shameful attacks, lies and distortions, by the democrats against Judge Alito. Yes it was the kind words of Senator Graham apologizing for the judge and his family about the despicable behavior of the democrats that let her put her guard down and expressed her emotions and frustration about this whole thing. There is nothing weak about that as you and few others have been implying on this. Your arguments show that first your are not compassionate and second that you lack any political insight on what really happened yesterday. Mrs. Altio crying incident yesterday has practically confirmed judge Alito and he will be the next Supreme Court justice of the United States.

I'm not implying she is weak, if your post is to me.

In fact, it is those who are saying the Democratic senators put her in tears are the ones saying she is weak. She held her ground and was quite firm during the liberals attacks on her husbands character. It wasn't until someone melted her family's head with words of kindness that she wavered.

If you're post was to me then you misundertand my stance.

Yeah, you're sitting there watching this and realize these bloviators CANNOT EVEN UNDERSTAND THE ANSWERS given by Alito!! Did you see Russ Feingold's eyes glazing over when Alito went into caselaw? Hahahahahah He sat there like he needed toothpicks to keep his eyes open, then he would just peruse his cheat sheet to see what question he was going to read off next.

Alito has kicked their butts and made them look like same in the process.

Your recounting of the Doe vs Groody case is egregiously misleading. Any fair reading of Alito's dissent makes clear that Alito is not endorsing a strip search per se, but that the facts of the case would lead reasonable people (the police officers) to believe that the warrant authorized the search of all occupants of the household and that therefore the officers should be immune from being sued. It is completely open to debate whether Alito would have agreed that the results of the search could have been used as evidence.
Alitos' Dissent includes the following:
"I believe that the majority's analysis is flawed. First
and most important, the majority employs a technical and
legalistic method of interpretation that is the antithesis of the "commonsense and realistic" approach that is appropriate.
n12 Second, the face of the warrant here does not
unambiguously restrict the persons to be searched to John
Doe alone. As previously noted, the question whether
occupants other than John Doe should be searched was
closely tied (if not identical) [**38] to the question
whether there was probable cause to search such persons,
and the face of the warrant incorporated the affidavit with
respect to the issue of probable cause. This incorporation,
at the very least, creates a sufficient ambiguity to permit
consideration of the affidavit and the circumstances
surrounding the application."

His argument is clear: the majority chose an overly technical basis for finding that the policie officers should not have immunity. In Alito's view they chose the wrong principle to evaluate how the law applied to this particular case.

To repeat the ad hominem "strip search Sammy" is as about as fair as Kennedy's disgusting performance yesterday. Just think about it: Kennedy abused his power yesterday. Most of us subjected to that kind of baseless attack would undoubtedly point out that Kennedy's own documented behavior gives him no right whatsoever to call someone a bigot.

And to add insult to injury, Gil Gross subing for Paul Harvey said that it was Lindseys' question accusing Alito of being a bigot was the reason...not that it was from his defense of the Judge from the attacks by the Dems who were making the allegations.

Thank you so much for that picture you posted of Judge Alito's wife offering him support during these hearings.

That is a picture of love and respect between two fine people.

It made my day.

Kennedy will probably die a very miserable, widely disliked old man. I can't imagine anyone who would be upset or at a sense of loss over this man's passing, when it happens.

The LW moonbats at Daily Kos are even more determined to play hardball and pursue the dead end known as CAP.

The DUmmies have some even nastier posts here, here, and the big nasty thread showing how low and classless the moonbats are, here:Alito's Wife Leaves Hearing Room in Tears.

**If Mrs. Alito wasn't aware that it could, and probably would, get ugly, she's been living in a hole.**

Either you have ice water running through your veins, or you have no consideration for the human heart.

The DUmmies love him(fat ted), I took a look over at the DUmpster and they are saying things like, "Why does anyone bring their wife to a job interview, etc.etc.".

Because they know their voters only vote their emotions without thinking, and seeing nasty democrats be the cause of her crying over their treatment of her husband they will loose even their base's support especially their women voters. They just lost the support of the Oprah voters.
